After a high-profile round-table meeting, Google CEO Sundar Pichai lauded Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dedication to transforming India through his visionary "Digital India" initiative. Speaking to the media, Mr. Pichai highlighted the Prime Minister's unwavering focus on harnessing the power of digital technologies to drive growth and development across the country.

Mr. Pichai emphasized that the Digital India vision is at the heart of PM Modi’s transformative agenda. He said, "Prime Minister Modi has been focused on transforming India," adding that Mr. Modi has encouraged companies to continue their efforts in "making in India and designing in India." Pichai noted that Google is particularly proud that its Pixel phones are now manufactured in India, underscoring the company’s commitment to supporting the country's growing technology ecosystem.

The Google CEO revealed that one of the key topics of discussion during the meeting was the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in India. According to Pichai, PM Modi is deeply invested in how AI can be leveraged to benefit various sectors, including healthcare, education, and agriculture. “The Prime Minister challenged us to think about AI applications that can positively impact these critical areas,” he said.

In addition to AI, PM Modi’s broader infrastructure goals were also highlighted. Pichai mentioned the Prime Minister’s focus on building robust infrastructure to support India's digital and technological ambitions. This includes investments in data centers, power, and energy sectors, which are vital to enabling the country’s digital transition. “Mr. Modi is thinking about the infrastructure, ensuring India can make the transition by investing in data centers and power,” Pichai noted.

Google, in response, has already launched several programs and partnerships to support India’s digital and AI-driven future. Pichai expressed Google's enthusiasm about the opportunities ahead, stating, "Google is proud to partner with India and robustly invest in AI." He emphasized that the company is committed to helping India realize its potential as a global leader in AI innovation.

Mr. Pichai also underscored PM Modi’s clear vision for AI’s role in India’s future. He described the Prime Minister as forward-thinking, not just in recognizing the economic opportunities AI presents but also in ensuring that AI is ultimately used to benefit the Indian people. "PM Modi has a clear vision for the opportunities AI will create, but he wants to ensure that AI benefits the people of India," Pichai remarked.

The Google CEO concluded by saying that PM Modi has been challenging companies to do more and contribute to India’s rapid technological advancement. With strong government support and partnerships like those with Google, India is well-positioned to lead in AI, digital innovation, and sustainable growth.
