Citizen living in Bengal are facing the worst kind of atrocities.
The recent incidents are a deep scar on the conscience of the nation and should not happen in a sovereign democratic country. The state government under Mamta Banerjee has failed to upheld the law and order. Worse is that there seems to be a bias towards political opponents and Hindus.
Few news headings to understand the gravity of the situation.

Can an ordinary citizen expect justice if the policemen are being perceived as hand in glove with criminals?
“Attack on ED officers: Calcutta HC transfers Sandeshkhali case to CBI.” (PTI, march 5 2024)
Is it not the duty of centre to protect its employees? If central government investigators are not safe then what bigger proof is needed to understand the ground realities.
“West Bengal: Despite high court ruling, Mamata Banerjee restricts Durga visarjan on Muharram”. (India Today, Aug 24, 2017)

Constitutional remedy to injustice is being ignored. Whom to approach now?
What else is needed to awake the conscience of the central government?
“Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s declaration that she will issue ‘alternate Aadhaar cards’ to all those whose Aadhaar cards got deactivated, is nothing short of sedition.” (Swarajya, Feb 20, 2024 )
State is threatening to take over centre government power, does one need more clarification?

As if this was not enough supreme court intervened recently.
“Kolkata doctor case: SC pulls up Bengal govt for 14-hr delay in filing FIR, asks who was in touch with Ghosh”. (CNBC TV18, Aug 22, 2024 12:13 PM IST)
Major observations of the court:
• the apex court asked the state government, who was in touch with the former principal of RG Kar medical college, why did he delay FIR and what was the purpose.
• The court has termed it "extremely disturbing" the Kolkata police’s delay in registering the unnatural death in the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor at a state-run hospital.
• The court has questioned the conduct of state police and observed that it had not seen such conduct in 30 years.
• The court has directed the Kolkata police officer, who registered the first entry about the rape-murder incident, to appear at the next hearing on September 5 to disclose the time.
• the CBI told the court that the state police told parents that it was suicide, and then they said it was a murder.
despite all these comments it is alleged that the state machinery is bent upon to timid the protestors, new principal.
The state is a ripe case for imposition of article 356 for long. Then why centre is avoiding it?
Above data indicate the alarming situation at the ground which demands centre intervention but no political party has imposed 356 for upholding law and order or the betterment of the state. Political mileage was the prime concern.
Moreover, 1978 onwards lot of restrictions have been added for imposition of president’s rule.
Supreme court has also taken a tough stand on imposition of president rule. Over and above this, BJP itself has been vocal about the misuse of this article.
As a party BJP had been mild to internal agitations. The Shaeen Bagh road block, Farmer agitation and placing Khalistani flag on Red Fort have proved it time and again. It always approaches the court for remedies. The public had been a victim. This approach has brought a situation that alleged terror linked people have got elected and court have allowed them to take oath.
At the top of it, BJP does not enjoy majority on its own numbers. When it could not dare to impose 356 despite having full majority it is difficult to imagine that it will do it now.
Why It reminds us about the role played by Sardar Patel in crushing Rajakar era of Nizam?
Sardar Patel had a more challenging situation while dealing with Nizam.
• He was not the prime minister.
• There was no constitution to guide.
• Nizam did not consent to join Indian union.
• Prime minister Nehru was against Police action.
• Whole nation was on fire, violence, chaos and huge number of displaced people were there, looking for support therefore not enough resources or time was there to deal with Nizam.
Under these circumstances Sardar Patel kept his cool, digested humiliation to achieve his goal of building a united India. These facts are known to our prime minister who has contributed in the book ‘Sardar Patel other facets’ published by Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Foundation. This book provides full details of the ordeal. Few major steps were:
• Inclusion of patriotic people in the government despite having ideology different than that of Patel. Dr B.R. Ambedkar and Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee were two such leaders.
• Confronting the weak strategies propagated by Nehru. At one point Nehru opposed the police action saying that if we do this in Hyderabad than Pakistan may do the same in Kolkata. As per the book Dr Mookerjee said that people of Bengal have enough patriotism and courage to with stand and they will be happy to know that a Bengali general J.N Chaudhry has played a pivotal role in bringing Hyderabad to India.
• As per page 29 of the book “The discussion had scarcely begun when Nehru flew into a rage and upbraided Sardar for his action and attitude towards Hyderabad. He also directed his wrath against V.P Menon. He concluded his outburst with the remark that in future he would himself attend to all matters relating to Hyderabad. The vehemence of his attack, as well as its timing, shocked everyone present. Throughout the outburst Sardar sat still without uttering a word. He then rose and left the meeting accompanied by VP Menon”.
• Sardar Patel went ahead with his plan and Nehru did not intervene to stop him, rest is history now.
Why time has come to take similar action using article 356.
Famous quote from Chankya teaches,” As soon as the fear approaches near, attack and destroy it”.
Over and above, the followers of Nehruvian philosophy are in opposition and are in full support of present government of West Bengal, the congress president sided with Mamta in recently held election and threatened people opposing her.
“Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary will not take decision’: Mallikarjun Kharge says Mamata Banerjee is with INDIA bloc” ( Mint, 18TH MAY 2024)
Despite that congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has listened to his electorates and has said:
“Didi (Mamata) has started threatening junior doctors. Can this be tolerated?”. Similarly left parties are participating in the protest march of the students. It indicates that every body is frustrated and has dropped the rotten policy of supporting the wrong ideology as they hated Modi.
From JP movement of 1974 onwards, it is proved time and again that the mass movement of students represent the voice of ordinary Indians. West Bengal has become a Kurukshetra for taking on the anti-India forces. As a nationalist I have conviction that modern Arjun will not behave as a coward.
The anti-India forces enjoyed a safe heaven for long, foreign funding, waqf menace, disturbed north east, Mao Vadi terror and Kashmiri extremist were the poster boys. Media, certain section of judiciary had the soft corner for them, Bollywood movies were projecting them as misguided youth deserving sympathy. Last 10 year have challenged this eco system and been able to curtail their funding and support system to a great extent. Threatened to be extinct these forces have come together and their handler sitting abroad are providing them financial and logical support. Challenging court decisions with violence has become the norm. there are reports that people of a certain community are being incited to put stones on the railways track, remove fish plates etc. The message start with acknowledging the work done by ED and NIA.
“The government is targeting our properties through ED and NIA, but we will remain steadfast and usurp power sooner or later.” (Farhatullah Ghori, a
Pakistan-based Islamic terrorist, Opindia, 28 Aug. 2024.)
The railway minister has acknowledged the threat in his press conference.
‘Ashwini Vaishnav says 'disturbing trends seen' in recent train derailments’ (India Today, Aug 28 2024)
India has no choice but to take on these forces now and here, West Bengal can be a testing ground.
West Bengal has been boiling for long and TMC cadres have tamed the police, their unabated violence has made public timid. The state government has made accusation against the centre, humiliated the governor, disobeyed the high court rulings, their cadre have attacked officers of central investigative agencies. State has become a gateway for infiltrators as it is very easy to get Indian identity proof and full support is extended once you get it. The only advantage centre has, is north east is a bit calm except Manipur. Mao Vadis are on defence. The threat on the other side is that post Bangladesh debacle Pakistani handler have increased their activities in Kashmir. Parliament is not being allowed to do regular business. The path chosen to build the nation as a super power will definitely have the conflict with anti-India forces. ED and NIA brought down the bomb blast incidents but they have quickly learnt to encash public unrest to create instant violent movements.
The only way to stop this menace is to make them pay a very heavy price for their misadventure.
The way forward
There are enough patriots in other parties who are feeling suffocated and restless. One has to engage with them as done by Sardar Patel and create a more united public response system. When Pakistanis were trying to take over Jammu and Kashmir, it was the dedicated and sacrificing Swayamsevak’s who cleared the snow from the airstrips and repaired airfields so that the Indian air force could land their aircraft.
A white paper can be published on West Bengal to inspire hope among people fighting these atrocities. The action has to be swift and conclusive-the president rule should not last more than six months. The security agencies should restore law and order, police should stop acting as party cadre. This strategy may or may not win election in future but it will lead the nation to a conclusion that anti-India forces have no future here. India needs a present-day leader who should qualify to be remembered as Sardar Patel is being remembered today.
“...Out of all of them, Patel is the only strong man.” Arvind Ghosh.
