The Indian government has once again decided to start visa service for Canadians. Canada has welcomed this. Canada said that this is a good sign considering the relations between the two countries. The Indian High Commission said in Ottawa on October 25 that India will partially start visa service in Canada from October 26, i.e. today.
The Indian High Commission said that at present one can apply for a visa in only four categories – entry, business, medical and conference. In fact, after the increased tension between India and Canada over the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, India had suspended the visa service on September 21.
Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi had said on September 21 that our diplomatic unit in Canada is receiving threats. They are not able to do their work. This is the reason why visa services have been suspended. He had said that Canada is giving space to terrorists to live and carry out their plans.
Earlier, on September 20, the Ministry of External Affairs of India had issued an advisory for its citizens living in Canada, in which it was said - In view of the ongoing anti-India activities in Canada, citizens living there or traveling there are advised to be very cautious.
It was said in the advisory: In recent times, it has been seen that Indian diplomats present in Canada and a certain section of the Indian community are being threatened. These are the people who oppose the anti-India agenda. In view of the deteriorating security situation in Canada, Indian students present there are advised to be more cautious.
