Supreme Court Cancels Rebel JD(U) MLA Anant Singh's Bail, Orders Surrender by December 1

The Supreme Court on Friday dealt a major blow to Mokama MLA Anant Singh in the high-profile Dularchand Yadav murder case, directing him to surrender by December 1 and ordering the investigating agency to complete its probe within four months. The order came as the apex court considered a petition challenging the bail granted to Singh by the Patna High Court, putting the spotlight back on a politically sensitive murder case linked to the run-up to the Bihar Assembly elections.

The Supreme Court on Friday directed rebel JD(U) MLA Anant Singh, an accused in the Dularchand Yadav murder case, to surrender by December 1, dealing a setback to the Mokama legislator. The order came during a hearing on a petition challenging the bail granted to Singh by the Patna High Court.

The apex court also directed the investigating agency to complete its investigation into the murder case within four months. The petition seeks cancellation of Singh’s bail in connection with the killing of Dularchand Yadav.

What Is the Dularchand Yadav Murder Case?

The case relates to the death of Dularchand Yadav on October 30, 2025, during campaigning for the Bihar Assembly elections in the Mokama area. Yadav, a supporter of the Jan Suraaj Party and a former Rashtriya Janata Dal leader, died following an incident involving rival political groups.

According to reports on the investigation, Yadav sustained fatal injuries during the confrontation. Singh was named as a prime accused and was arrested on November 1, 2025. He subsequently secured bail from the Patna High Court in March 2026.

Singh had contested the Bihar Assembly election while in judicial custody and won the Mokama seat. His political position has since faced further challenges, including his expulsion from the JD(U) over alleged anti-party activities.

The Supreme Court's latest order concerns Singh's bail and the progress of the investigation. The allegations against him remain subject to the judicial process, and the cancellation of bail is not itself a conviction.

More details are awaited.
