Russia's private army Wagner Group is currently equipping the Hezbollah terrorist organization with its SA-22 air defence missile system. Hezbollah can use it to stop Israeli air strikes. However, this missile system has not been delivered yet.
It is also feared that if Hezbollah gets this missile system, it may also give it to the Hamas terrorists present in Gaza. Not only this, if Hezbollah activates this missile system, it can shoot down Israeli F-16 and F-35 fighter jets.
This missile defence system can also destroy Israeli ballistic missiles and hypersonic missiles. Russia had claimed that the SA-22 air defence missile system is equivalent to America's Patriot missile system. Not only this, it is many times better than other air defence systems present in Russia.
The SA-22 air defence missile system is actually known as Pantsir. SA-22 Greyhound is its NATO reporting name. It is a self-propelled, medium range surface-to-air missile system. Besides, it is also used as an anti-aircraft artillery system.
Russia has been using it since 2012. It has been used in the wars of Syria, Ukraine and Libya. More than 200 missile systems have been made so far. Three people can run it together. Five types of missiles can be used in this. Most are developed in Russia only.
It identifies the enemy target within 4-6 seconds and fires the missile towards it. There are six variants in total, which are used according to range and speed. Its range ranges from 15 to 75 kilometers. It can work even in minus 50 degree Celsius temperature.
