The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin who till recently is vociferously supporting the anti-sanatana Dharma statements of his son Udayanidhi Stalin has suddenly had a change of heart and issued a gag order to the entire DMK cadre not to utter anything anymore against the Sanatana Dharma. The sudden U turn of Stalin may surprise others but for those who follow the Tamil Nadu politics it is no surprise. Both son and father statements are aimed at politics though initially they tried to paint it with Dravidian ideological brush. The controversial statement of Udayanidhi Stalin comparing the Sanatana Dharma to malaria, dengue and even to Covid19 which needs eradication was made in the so called progressive writers meet was a calculated political provocation against Hindu religion to tide over the heat generated by the Tamil Nadu BJP unit President Annamalai in the highly successful padaytra, reaching out the people through walking across the state. One thought the politically matured mind of M.K. Stalin make amends by condemning his son’s statement. Instead of that the Tamil Nadu CM publicly announced his support not only to his son but also to the other vociferous DMK leaders, including former union minister K. Raja, using the foul language against Sanatana Dharma.
After a 15 day free run for the DMK leaders to lambast Sanatana Dharma, the DMK top brass realised that their tirade against the Sanatana Dharma is hurting not only their own party at the state level but it is hurting his political friends in different states now under the opportunistic political umbrella. So it is not a change of heart of DMK Chief M.K. Stalin but an apparent political back step after witnessing vocal and resourceful backlash from the Sanatana Dharma adherents. The number of anti-Udayanidhi statements and actions were posted by the Tamil diaspora from Gulf are too many to digest and even those involved in the original Dravidian anti-Brahmin movements are vocal in condemning the attack on the Sanatana Dharma. Their considered opinion is that there is no need to attack Sanatana Dharma revive anti-Brahmin movement in Tamil Nadu as that so called self-respect movement of Periyar has done more damage to the Tamil society and that movement consolidated the caste in the state instead of annihilating the caste as desired by E.V. Ramaswamy Naicker and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The sufferers are those caste people who were emotionally swayed by the rhetoric of Dravidian movement and wasted their energies against the miniscule population of Brahmins. The people of modern Tamil Nadu are slowly realising that Dravidian movement is not social movement aimed at caste eradication but a clever manipulation of Tamil emotions to consolidate political power in certain families. They now see the third generation DMK family member, Udayanidhi Stalin, waiting in the wings to take over the party.
Having dethroned the Congress from power in Tamil Nadu and got rid-off alleged Brahmin hegemony in the state the DMK should have tried to build a casteless society, about which they always spoke in the movement. Instead, the DMK under the Karunanidhi family rule, planned the consolidation of social power in the hands some selected and preferred castes. The caste hierarchy in Tamil Nadu, post ascendancy of DMK to power, is worse than Bihar and UP. The Meenakshipuram incident where the scheduled caste people, unable to bear the humiliations in the hands of DMK cadre en masse converted to Islam happened during DMK rule. The stories of such humiliating discriminatory attack on the SC communities in Tamil Nadu continues even now. It is these communities which are outside DMK pampered social political base which are now willingly joining padayatra of Annamalai, the young BJP chief of Tamil Nadu.
Annamali’s padayatra, not reported by national media, is causing political ripples in the areas it has crossed. Perhaps this is the significant social movement not witnessed elsewhere in the country. The voice less, supressed, politically neglected groups are joining are proudly proclaiming their Hindu identity and willingly joining the saffron bandwagon. The scheduled caste families are narrating the discrimination they are facing in the hands of DMK leaders. They are buffeted between the pressure groups of DMK goons and Church sponsored masses on the conversion prowl. All those who are wedded to Sanatana Dharma are moving to the BJP.
It is this shift of social groups towards the BJP and exposition of DMK misdeeds using the caste weapon to suppress the lowly placed social groups that is at the root cause for the sudden outburst of Udayanidhi Stalin against Sanatana Dharma. His hate filled speech bordering the call for genocide of Hindus went viral alerting the adherents of Santana Dharma to the threat from this DMK philosophy. Prior to this outburst the DMK has made a threating attempt on the social groups, who are moving towards BJP, with the elimination from the social security beneficial schemes of the government. Those social group having got the support of saffron colour has retaliated those black shirt workers by saying that “we know that it is Modi led government is providing the social security benefits in all field and DMK is only sticking their family leader’s photos to those projects. They even started questioning the use of late Karunanidhi’s photo being used in the government advertisements. That is the level of voter awareness generated by the padayatra of Annamalai.
The politics of hatred spread by DMK leaders through their tirade against Sanatana Dharma and its political intentions are surfacing in the social media. The Tamil Nadu minister K. Ponnuswamy was heard saying in a video that “26 party I.N.D.I.A. is founded to oppose the principles of Sanatana Dharma” proved the attempt of DMK leaders to rundown Sanatana Dharma is trailer for the forthcoming full throttled blitzkrieg of anti-Hindu speeches of I.N.D.I.A partners.
As the wicked hate filled political project of I.N.D.I.A got exposed and people in Maharashtra, West Bengal, UP, Bihar started questioning Udhav Thackeray. Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Lalu Yadav, Nitish Kumar and MP, Rajasthan, Chattisghar people challenging Congress on their stand on anti-Hindu utterances of DMK leaders, an SOS was sent to Chennai to temporarily put a break on anti-Hindu statements. It is that SOS from I.N.D.I.A which made the DMK chief Stalin to apply gag tape on the loud mouths of DMK leaders. So that “stop taking on Sanatana Dharma” is a tactical political statemet aimed at saving their skin in the elections and is not change of heart of that I.N.D.I.A group parties and people should be aware of this.
