Pune Murder Case: Fiancee Searched ‘How to Make Murder Look Like an Accident’ Before Businessman’s Death, Say Police

A chilling digital trail has emerged in the alleged murder of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal, with investigators claiming that his fiancée, Siya Goyal, searched online for ways to make a murder appear as an accident just days before his death at Lohagad Fort.

According to police sources, an examination of the Google search history on Siya Goyal's mobile phone revealed searches related to staging a murder as an accidental death. Investigators believe these searches were conducted shortly before the death of 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal, strengthening their suspicion that the incident was part of a carefully planned conspiracy.

Ketan Agarwal, a director in his family's real estate business, died on June 18 after falling nearly 400 feet into a gorge at the popular Lohagad Fort near Lonavala. Initially, the death was treated as an accident after Siya informed police that Ketan had slipped while posing for photographs amid strong winds during a trek. Based on her statement, the Lonavala Rural Police registered an accidental death report.

However, investigators soon began questioning the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police sources said inconsistencies in Siya's statements and certain aspects of her behaviour following Ketan's death prompted a deeper investigation.

The probe later uncovered an alleged relationship between 21-year-old Siya Goyal and 22-year-old businessman Chetan Babulal Chaudhary, who is involved in the dry fruit trade. According to investigators, the two had met at a business event last year and had developed a close relationship.

Police allege that Siya was unwilling to proceed with her marriage to Ketan and viewed him as an obstacle to her relationship with Chetan. Investigators claim that the pair subsequently conspired to eliminate him.

According to the police investigation, Siya invited Ketan to Lohagad Fort on June 18 under the pretext of an outing. Authorities allege that Chetan followed the couple at a distance of approximately 20 to 30 feet and was later identified through CCTV footage from the trekking route. The footage reportedly shows him wearing a hoodie and face mask while trailing the couple.

Investigators say CCTV footage also captured Ketan and Siya standing near the edge of the fort shortly before the fatal incident. Police allege that Siya and Chetan then pushed Ketan into the gorge, causing his death, before attempting to portray the incident as an accidental fall.

Adding another layer to the investigation, police sources claim that after Ketan's death, Siya posted emotional tributes and messages on Instagram mourning her fiancé. Investigators believe these posts may have been intended to reinforce the narrative that the death was a tragic accident.

The alleged Google searches, CCTV footage, social media activity and other digital evidence have now become central to the investigation. Police are also examining additional forensic and electronic evidence to establish the sequence of events and the extent of planning involved.

Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary have been arrested in connection with the case. Authorities have stated that the investigation remains ongoing and further evidence is being analysed as they continue to probe what they describe as a premeditated plot behind Ketan Agarwal's death.

The case has shocked Pune and drawn widespread attention due to the alleged use of digital planning and social media manipulation in what investigators believe was an attempt to disguise a murder as an accidental trekking mishap.
