PM to visit Kargil on 26th July on the occasion of 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas

On the occasion of the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26th July 2024, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit the Kargil War Memorial to pay homage to the bravehearts who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

Prime Minister Modi's visit to the Kargil War Memorial holds significant reverence as the nation marks the 25th anniversary of the Kargil conflict, where Indian armed forces displayed exemplary valor and dedication in defending the nation's sovereignty.

In a poignant gesture, Prime Minister Modi will arrive at the Kargil War Memorial around 9:20 AM, where he will lay wreaths and offer his respects to the fallen soldiers. This solemn ceremony will be attended by military officials, veterans, and families of the martyrs, underscoring the enduring gratitude and remembrance for their sacrifices.

In a significant infrastructure development initiative, Prime Minister Modi will also virtually inaugurate the first blast of the Shinkun La Tunnel Project during the same visit. The Shinkun La Tunnel, a visionary project, comprises a 4.1 km long Twin-Tube tunnel constructed at an altitude of approximately 15,800 feet on the Nimu – Padum – Darcha Road. Once completed, it will stand as the highest tunnel in the world.

The Shinkun La Tunnel holds strategic importance, as it will ensure all-weather connectivity to Leh, facilitating swift and efficient movement of armed forces and equipment in the challenging terrain of Ladakh. Beyond military logistics, the tunnel is expected to catalyze economic and social development in the region, enhancing connectivity and accessibility for local communities.

The inauguration of the Shinkun La Tunnel aligns with India's broader infrastructural goals, aiming to bolster connectivity in remote and geographically challenging areas, thereby fostering overall development and integration with the mainland.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dual commemoration and inauguration on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas and the Shinkun La Tunnel Project underscore India's commitment to honoring its martyrs' sacrifices while advancing infrastructure that strengthens national security and regional development.

The nation awaits with solemn pride as these initiatives symbolize India's resilience, progress, and dedication to the welfare and prosperity of its citizens.
