Among the most prominent recipients of the prestigious Padma Vibhushan was veteran actor Dharmendra, who was honoured posthumously for his immense contribution to Indian cinema. Widely regarded as one of the most successful and versatile actors in Bollywood history, Dharmendra acted in more than 300 films during a career spanning over six decades. Popularly known as the “He-Man” of Bollywood, he delivered memorable performances in classics such as Bandini, Satyakam, and the iconic Sholay. The citation also highlighted his tenure as a Member of Parliament and his contribution to public life.
Another Padma Vibhushan awardee, N. Rajam, was recognized for revolutionizing Indian classical music through her pioneering “Gayaki Ang” violin style. This year’s Padma Awards underline the government’s emphasis on honouring not only nationally celebrated figures but also lesser-known contributors who have quietly worked for society across remote regions of India. The awards continue to serve as one of the nation’s highest civilian recognitions, celebrating excellence, dedication, and public service in all forms.
