A bus has fallen 300 feet down onto another road in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. 38 people have died in this accident. At present relief and rescue work has been started. This bus was going from Kishtwar to Jammu. Meanwhile, the bus lost its balance and fell 300 feet down onto another road. Doda SSP Abdul Qayyum said that the bus going from Kishtwar to Jammu lost balance. After this the bus rolled 300 feet and fell on another road below. So far 38 people have died in this accident. 19 people are injured. The number of deaths may increase further.
“The bus hit the ditch several times before falling 300 feet down onto another road and rolling down,” an officer said. There were more people in the bus than required. It is believed that the turn and climb on the hill were simultaneous. During this time the driver lost control over the steering of the bus. This accident took place in Trungal of Assar area of Doda district. A police officer said that at least 36 or more people are feared dead in the accident. At present, police teams have left for the spot.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh has also given information about the accident by tweeting. He said that I have spoken to Doda Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh. The injured have been admitted to the district hospital of Kishtwar. Helicopter arrangements are being made for further treatment of some more people. All necessary help is being sent to the spot. I am in constant touch and the rescue operation is being completely monitored.
Local people started rescue operations immediately after the incident. There were about 55 people in the bus. In such a situation, the death toll may also be higher. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed grief over the accident. He said that he is extremely saddened by the bus accident that took place in Asar. The injured are expected to recover soon.
