Air Force has a unique contribution in building India. That contribution required writing not one article, but fifteen to twenty large volumes of books Because Indian Air Force has provided 360 degree security to India. Today we have to talk about an ex-officer of the Air Force, who has achieved many great achievements in his life, yet he lives a very low-profile life and enjoys nature by keeping his life surrounded by nature.
I want to talk about former Indian Air Force pilot Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma, who was the first Indian to set foot on the lunar soil and from the moon he said 'Sare Jahan se acha, Hindusta Hamara' Rakesh Sharma can be an very big inspiration for all of us. In this age of showbiz and public exhibit, it is said to be a very rare thing for someone to stay away from the limelight and choose to live in Coonoor amidst nature. Also, Rakesh Sharma is actively busy doing gardening and farming. He is the same person who stayed in lunar space for a total of 21 days and forty minutes and is now living by creating his very own space, and that too extremely peaceful!
In this way, Rakesh Sharma has become an inspiration for us in two ways. First and foremost, as an Indian astronaut that he went to space and landed on the moon. Another thing is that he chose to live a peaceful life amidst nature. The surprising thing is that there are very few pictures related to Rakesh Sharma's current life, even on the internet! when digital pictures are very easily available on the internet today. It means that he does not appear in the media from time to time. Rather, he continues to enjoy his life very healthily surrounded by nature.
Can we apply this to our lives? Even though we have not achieved achievements like Rakesh Sharma, but if we don't upload content on our Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or Twitter ( X ) for two days, than we get 'fomo) fear of missing out'. However, here we have to understand this issue only from the point of view of nature. Because it is due to this 'fomo', that people are getting occupied for no reason in getting outcomes that they don't need. In order to get the likes, comments, and feedback, they are constantly busy for no reason.

Due to this, on one hand, the demand and production of everything has increased to a very unfavorable extent, and this results in a direct impact on our environment. Humans don't know exactly how much they need for consumption and how much they don't need to buy from the markets! In this age of public display and to show others, the idea of what minimalism is called and what are the personal or global benefits of minimalism is also disappearing from people's minds.
On the other hand, due to this meaningless and unproductive occupation of time spent in the virtual world, people have become very distant from nature. They have a lack of mindfulness, and they are unaware of the beauty of the elements of nature, like the trees, rivers, mountains, seas, or even wind in this world. All these things are directly related to us. All these things of Mother nature keep us alive and ticking. Because by staying near nature or conserving nature, our mental health stays outstanding, and due to which our physical health gets excellent too.
But the irony of today is that none of us have a close relationship with nature. Even the youth or the new generation of the urban area can not identify or even name the different species of trees. If there is this level of indifference towards nature, then how will that generation come forward for nature conservation? Nature conservation has now become the biggest question of public concern. But on the personal front, how incomplete and stressful are the lives of people who can not live in harmony with nature. Ultimately, nature takes you away from materialist pleasure and leads you to spiritual and real joy. One can experience a life full of content, fulfillment, and true happiness when they are in true harmony with nature.
The life that Rakesh Sharma is currently living is exactly the same! He has kept his life away from the limelight. Despite having so many achievements in life, he prioritized nature and considered the hills of Coonoor, the greenery there as his life's goal. There can be a concern about material goals in life, but ultimately, it is equally important to have spiritual goals along with material goals. Otherwise, the stress alone will increase in life.
