India continues to emerge as the world’s fastest-growing major economy despite widespread economic uncertainty across the globe, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Saturday while highlighting the country’s impressive economic performance in the financial year 2025-26.
Referring to India’s registered Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate of 7.7 per cent during FY 2025-26, Mr. Singh stated that the achievement reflects the resilience and underlying strength of the Indian economy that has been built over the past 12 years. He emphasized that the country’s consistent economic progress demonstrates its ability to withstand global challenges while maintaining a strong growth trajectory.
In a post shared on social media, the Defence Minister praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, crediting him for steering the nation towards sustained economic growth and stability. According to Mr. Singh, India has successfully combined rapid economic expansion with stability, confidence, sustainability, and credibility under the Prime Minister’s leadership.
“India continues to stand out as the world’s fastest-growing major economy at a time when many countries are facing economic uncertainty,” Mr. Singh noted. He added that the robust GDP growth figure underscores the effectiveness of the government’s economic policies and reforms aimed at strengthening the nation’s economic foundations.
The Defence Minister further highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s unwavering commitment to nation-building and his focus on key areas such as innovation, infrastructure development, and entrepreneurship.
