IMD Forecasts Heavy Rainfall Across Northern and Central India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a significant weather advisory, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall across several states in northern and central India today. The affected regions include Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, where IMD predicts intense precipitation.

In addition to these areas, isolated parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are also expected to experience heavy rainfall. IMD has cautioned about squally winds with speeds reaching up to 60 kilometers per hour over northern Madhya Pradesh and southwestern Uttar Pradesh, persisting until this evening before gradually subsiding.

The weather system responsible for these conditions is a depression located over northeastern Madhya Pradesh, which IMD forecasts will move nearly west-northwestwards across north Madhya Pradesh and adjoining southwestern Uttar Pradesh. Over the next 24 hours, the depression is anticipated to weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area.

This forecast comes amidst heightened monsoon activity across the region, impacting daily life and necessitating precautions against potential flooding, landslides, and disruptions in transport and communication networks.

Authorities and residents in the affected areas are advised to stay updated with IMD advisories and take necessary precautions to ensure safety and minimize risks associated with the inclement weather conditions.

The IMD continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as the weather system progresses across these states.
