Achieving unity among Hindus is crucial for the survival, flourishing, and evolution of one of the world’s oldest civilizations in a rapidly changing world. Hinduism, with its rich diversity and millennia-old traditions, has always been open to adaptation and inclusion. Yet, this openness has also made it vulnerable to external threats, ranging from religious conversion campaigns to political and ideological pressures. In a globalised world, where cultural homogenisation is often encouraged, the need to preserve and protect religious practices is more important than ever. The message of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family) embodies the spirit of inclusiveness that can be a foundation for unity. Religious leaders must work to emphasise the shared values of dharma, compassion, and respect that cut across caste lines and unite all Hindus. Political leadership also plays a key role. A commitment to unity must go beyond symbolic gestures and take the form of policies that promote social harmony, economic equality, and legal justice for all Hindus, regardless of caste or background. In this context, inclusive governance and initiatives to reduce disparities within society are essential.
