Commercial LPG Prices Surge Again: 19-kg Cylinder Jumps by ₹993 in Delhi

In a sharp blow to businesses and commercial establishments, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by ₹993, effective May 1. With this latest hike, the cost of a single commercial cylinder in Delhi has risen to ₹3,071.50, up significantly from the previous rate of ₹2,078.50.

This marks the third consecutive monthly increase in commercial LPG prices. Earlier, rates were raised by ₹195.50 per cylinder on April 1, following a ₹114.50 hike on March 1. Cumulatively, these revisions have led to a steep rise of ₹1,303 in commercial LPG prices over just three months.

The surge is expected to directly impact sectors such as hospitality, food services, and small businesses that rely heavily on commercial LPG for daily operations. Restaurants, hotels, and street vendors may feel the pressure, with many likely to pass on the increased costs to consumers.

In contrast, domestic LPG cylinder prices have remained unchanged. The price of a 14.2-kg household cooking gas cylinder in Delhi continues to stand at ₹913. The last revision in domestic LPG rates occurred on March 7, when prices were increased by ₹60 per cylinder.

While the government has refrained from raising domestic LPG prices—offering some relief to household consumers—the consistent hikes in commercial cylinder rates highlight a growing cost burden on businesses amid fluctuating global energy prices.

Industry experts suggest that the upward trend may continue if international fuel prices remain volatile, potentially affecting inflation and overall economic activity in the coming months.
