Yogi Adityanath’s Grit, challenges and Triumph as CM
( What does artificial intelligence tell us about Yogi Govt’s 8 years?)
With AI ready to help, It is very easy to write an article these days but it is very difficult to ask meaningful questions to guide AI to perform at its best. As the media is focused on revenue generated by advertisements, enough material is available for praising all types of governments. The Delhi government was praised for revolutionising education, Health services and so on but the chief minister and deputy CM l failed to win.
If the source information is wrong, will Artificial intelligence give artificial conclusions?
For a change, I asked AI to highlight the failures of Yogi Adityanath as CM Of Uttar Pradesh. The major issues highlighted are given below.
● Allegations of Discrimination and Communal Bias.
● Language and Cultural Policies
● Administrative and Event Management
● Allegations of Neglect in Heritage Conservation
● Despite these alleged shortcomings I was pleasantly surprised to see that as the most condemned chief minister by the opposition and media Yogi Adityanath is free from corruption charges of any type. This increased my curiosity to test the above mentioned allegations leveled against Yogi Adityanath
● Truth behind the allegations and it’s impact as well Allegations of Discrimination and Communal Bias: The allegation does not speak about the community being discriminated against and my effort to search for data is met with a very strange response! I typed the question why Muslim youth engage more in crime? The ChatGpt answered my question as,” Crime is a complex social issue that is influenced by multiple factors such as poverty, lack of education, unemployment, social environment, and systemic inequalities—not religion. People from all communities and backgrounds can be involved in crime, and attributing it to a specific religion is neither accurate nor fair”.
● To test AI further I typed, “ why Hindus are getting radicalised?. To my utter surprise this time AI did not use any defensive argument and started giving reasons as, Perceived Historical Grievances, temple dispute, political polarisation and some other Hindu reasons with ease. As the AI collects and analyzes data available on the net, it will reflect the discrimination and bias of the information dumped on the internet. Blaming Hindu is without repercussions, criticizing Yogi is no different .
● It is true that poverty, illiteracy etc play a major role towards indulging in criminality but not questioning the focus given on going to madrasas, which does not provide employable skills needed, is dangerous. Similarly action taken against criminals is projected as discrimination against the community. I tried to find the complaints which may support the discrimination of not providing government aid or subsidie, on account of religion, caste or region but found none.
● To further test whether criminal activities are different in Mumbai I typed, "top chain snatcher in Mumbai” and Google provided the following news: “Irani Basti in Mumbai: A chain thieves’ den where cops are hacked,” attacked”.TOI 27th March. The only difference is that UP police and municipal authorities would have used bulldozers to demolish unauthorized construction in the designated areas. From Sambhal to Bareilly and other areas the action against criminals has been projected as a discrimination against communities. The more surprising part is that the same is being projected as an achievement under the heading ‘improvement in law and order’ situation.
● To test the ground reality, the author visited the Gorakhdham temple at gorakhpur. I was surprised to see burqa clad Muslim women moving around. I asked one of them about moving freely in a temple premise that was headed by Yogi Adityanath?( there are many temples where non Hindu can not enter). The reply received was,” before being CM he was our MP and we are visiting the premises from that time”. Listening to this, one will wonder whom to believe media reports or the people living in Gorakhpur?
● Language and cultural policies: I enquired on AI, “ Why is Yogi Adityanath discriminating on the basis of language?” The ChatGPt reply is, “ Yogi Adityanath's language and cultural policies are less about discrimination and more about promoting a nationalist identity centered around Hindi and Sanskrit. However, this has led to alienation and resentment in non-Hindi-speaking states and among minority communities.”
● It is a surprise that non Hindi speaking states which have no stake in UP, are getting hurt without reason. On the other hand, the same people attack Hindi, issue statements like, ‘Sanatana like HIV, leprosy’: After Udhayanidhi, DMK MP A Raja triggers row” March 7 2023 HT Are ignored and no national debate takes place.
● Administrative and Event Management:Under this heading the cause of worry is the building of Kashi and Ayodhya as a religious hub for tourism. Conducting Kumbh at pryagraj raj at a mega scale. It is again strange that when Bodhgaya, Sarnath and Shravasti are promoted for the Buddha circuit, it is treated as pragmatic move but when Hindu religious places are promoted then it becomes discrimination . The height of pseudo secularism is that communist Kerala can call itself as ‘ God's Own Country’ , Dravid political party condemning Santana can promote temple tourism but when UP does the same it becomes discrimination.
Results speak for themselves: AI based summary from media reports.
Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh since March 2017, has faced these criticisms during his tenure not because he is discriminating but because of him U.P is rising to lime light and is getting ready to challenge the supremacy of Maharashtra and Tamilnadu. The tags like BIMARU states or Gobarpatti may not stay for long. The state has done well on account of building infrastructure, ease of doing business, and attracting investment, improving law and order situation. The journey has just begun! What is the secret behind the success of this fire-brand politics which makes one love or hate Aditya Nath but not to ignore him.
Naysayers may discount his performance but Yogi Adityanath’s political survival and rise is spectacular. Despite not being from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Yogi became the first choice for the position of chief minister of U.P, His success can be attributed to several key factors:
1. Commitment to core values of sanatan dharma & Independent Base of followers.
Yogi built his political brand around true Hindutva, often taking positions which seemed aggressive but sustainable legally and survived in the judicial system thriving on pseudo secularism. As the Mahant (head priest) of the Gorakhnath Math, he commands a large and devoted Hindu following, especially in eastern Uttar Pradesh. His Hindu Yuva Vahini, a youth organization has empowered him to survive communal mafia attacking him, multiple times. These attacks have strengthened his resolve to eliminate mafia Raj from U.P and he has not minced words about it.
Unlike many RSS-backed leaders who rely only on cadre support, Yogi Adityanath has built his own direct connection with the people also, especially in Purvanchal. His speeches, no-nonsense image, and anti-crime stance has resonated with voters crossing party lines. Organising Maha Kumbh successfully has boosted the state economy and the brand Yogi.Unlike Nupur Sharma and Devendra Fadnavis, firebrand Yogi is a sought after frontline campaigner in other state elections as well.
3. Support from Narendra Modi & Amit Shah
Yogi became CM due to support from Modi and Shah despite not being a MLA. The party has a major stacks in U.P. They perceive him as a strong, decisive leader who could implement their vision of "Ram Rajya" and ensure an empowered Hindus vote for BJP. His law-and-order crackdown, infrastructure push, and welfare programs strengthened both Yogi and Modi and were emulated selectively in few other states.
4. Successful Governance Record
His relentless handling of the notorious mafia and eliminating the same has improved law and order. The prices of properties have escalated in areas falling in NCR. It has resulted in fast completion of infrastructure (expressways, airports, defense corridor) leading to industries showing interest. Better handling of COVID 19 endemic. Successful implementation of schemes like free ration, health and one district one product have made him electorally valuable.
5. No conflict with RSS?
Electronic media and opposition have expressed reservations but the public has accepted Yogi’s leadership. What Modi has done to brand India, Yogi has done the same for U.P. Many pravasi who returned due to endemic COVID, have decided to stay and thrive in changing U.P . Due to his success in consolidating the Hindu vote and thriving in a state entangled in caste equations he enjoys support from all corners.
6. Standing tall, Head above shoulders.
Within the state in UP, no other leader has emerged with Yogi’s mass appeal, administrative grip, and ideological clarity. His growing popularity and his proximity to Modi-Shah make it difficult for anyone to replace him. The boldness with which he mocked Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav and the assemble laughed, is the proof of his stature
“Pappu aur Tappu…', CM Yogi takes a swipe at SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav and Congress’ Rahul Gandhi”. ET Feb 25 2025.
Conclusion:
Yogi Adityanath survived and thrived despite not being from the RSS because he built his own power base, delivered governance results, had direct voter appeal, and aligned with BJP’s broader Hindutva and development agenda. While not a traditional RSS product, he has effectively harmonised with RSS, making him one of BJP’s most formidable leaders today. Yogi Adityanath has proved:
"A society's true strength lies not in its material wealth, but in the spiritual compass guiding its leaders and citizens”
