Amid Rising India-Pakistan Tension, Indian Oil Corporation Assures Ample Fuel Stocks, Dismisses Panic Buying

In the wake of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the nation's largest oil firm, has moved swiftly to reassure the public. In a statement released on Friday, IOC emphasized that there is no need for panic buying of fuel or LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), asserting that ample stocks are readily available across the country to meet all demands.

Social media platforms had been inundated with posts and videos depicting long queues at petrol pumps, a phenomenon triggered by heightened apprehensions amid the geopolitical tensions. Responding to these concerns, IOC issued a clear directive urging citizens to remain calm and avoid unnecessary rushes to purchase fuel.

"In an official communication, Indian Oil has affirmed that it maintains robust reserves of fuel nationwide, with operational supply lines functioning smoothly," the statement read. The corporation underscored its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted access to fuel and LPG at all of its outlets.

The advisory further urged the public to cooperate by refraining from panic buying, which could strain supply chains and exacerbate the situation unnecessarily. "Help us serve you better by staying calm and avoiding unnecessary rush. This will keep our supply lines running seamlessly and ensure uninterrupted fuel access for all," IOC urged.

The surge in panic buying was particularly noticeable in regions bordering Pakistan, such as Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. These areas witnessed sporadic power outages following a series of incidents involving Pakistan's military drones and other munitions along the western border on the night of May 8-9. Indian security forces successfully repelled these incursions, mitigating potential escalations.

The recent escalation traces back to India's retaliatory strikes on nine sites in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan itself, marking the deepest military engagement in decades. These strikes were in response to a fatal terrorist attack earlier, prompting subsequent attempts by Pakistan to target Indian military installations with drones and missiles across several cities and towns.

As tensions persist, the Indian government has maintained a vigilant stance, emphasizing security preparedness while reassuring the public about the stability of essential services. With IOC's assurance of ample fuel stocks and its plea for calm, efforts are underway to maintain normalcy and ensure uninterrupted access to vital resources amidst a challenging geopolitical landscape.
