ABVP Secures Decisive Victory in DUSU Elections, Wins Three Key Posts

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has clinched a commanding victory in the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections, winning three of the four central panel posts. The National Students' Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress party, managed to secure the Vice President's position, preventing a complete sweep by ABVP.

The election results, declared after a rigorous 19 rounds of counting, highlight a significant mandate in favor of ABVP, continuing its dominant streak in the university's student politics.

The presidential race saw a landslide victory for ABVP's Aryan Mann, who polled 26,642 votes, decisively defeating NSUI's Joslyn Chaudhary, who garnered 10,814 votes. Mann's massive lead of 15,828 votes set the tone for the ABVP's strong performance throughout the day.

However, NSUI found a silver lining in the Vice Presidential contest. Their candidate, Rahul Jhansla, emerged victorious with 27,182 votes, overcoming ABVP's Govind Tanwar, who received 19,145 votes. Jhansla's win, by a margin of 8,037 votes, ensured NSUI's representation on the central panel.

The Secretary post was won by ABVP's Kunal Chaudhary, who secured 21,944 votes against NSUI candidate Kabir's 14,987 votes, registering a comfortable lead of 6,957 votes.

Completing the ABVP trifecta was Deepika Jha, who won the post of Joint Secretary. Jha received 20,254 votes, defeating NSUI's Lavkush Bhadana, who polled 15,970 votes. Her victory margin stood at 4,284 votes.

The results underscore ABVP's continued organizational strength and connect with the student electorate in India's premier university. The win for three key positions empowers them to shape the student agenda for the upcoming academic year. For NSUI, the victory in the Vice President's race provides a crucial foothold but also signals the need for a strategic rethink to challenge ABVP's hegemony in future polls.

The newly elected union is expected to take charge soon, with students anticipating action on key issues like infrastructure, examination reforms, and campus facilities.
