The Uttar Pradesh government under Yogi government has turned upside down. The same UP government but under other leaders have shown the nation the ugly side of its administration. But under Yogi Adityanath, this has changed. The state known for its lawlessness is now getting known for its actions against law-breakers. You all know how the Yogi Government has cracked down on Mafias like Mukhtar Ansari, Atiq Ahmad and others. And now, it has cast its eyes on the sand mafias of the state, who were emboldened by their closeness to Samajwadi Party and BSP. Now, to decimate them, the Yogi Government has brought in “Durga Shakti.” It has made Durga Nagpal, the DM of Banda district, known for sand mafias. The Yogi government has made its intention clear that no one “means no one” will be allowed to play with the law of the land and disturb public peace. If anyone dares to do so, he will bear the consequences.

Now, I will tell you why the posting of a lady IAS officer as DM of Banda is that important.
IAS Durga Nagpal is a highly regarded civil servant who gained national attention in India for her bold actions against the illegal sand mining mafia in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Durga Nagpal was born on June 25, 1985, in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. She completed her schooling in Delhi, after which she pursued a Bachelor's degree in English from Indraprastha College for Women, Delhi University. She then obtained a Master's degree in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Yale University, USA. After completing her studies, Durga cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2009 and was allotted the Uttar Pradesh cadre.
DurgaNagpal was earlier posted as the SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate) of GautamBuddh Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh. In 2013, she gained national recognition for her actions against the rampant illegal sand mining mafia operating in the region. She was widely appreciated for her actions and became a popular figure among the masses.
However, on 27 July 2013, Durga Nagpal was suspended by the then Uttar Pradesh government led by AkhileshYadav. She was accused of ordering the demolition of a mosque wall in the Gautam Buddh Nagar district. The government alleged that the demolition was carried out without following due procedures and without providing adequate notice to the local administration. However, many people saw this as a flimsy reason to suspend her and believed that her suspension was a result of her crackdown on the sand mafia.

Durga Nagpal's suspension caused widespread public outrage, and people from all walks of life protested against the government's decision. Her case also gained national media attention, with many prominent personalities speaking out in her support. Despite the uproar, the Uttar Pradesh government refused to revoke her suspension.
DurgaNagpal's case became a symbol of the fight against corruption and the struggle of honest civil servants in India. Her actions against the sand mafia and her suspension sparked a nationwide debate on the role of bureaucracy and the need for civil servants to act independently and fearlessly.
And this is why; she became the apt candidate for the Yogi Government’s fight against corruption and making UP a crime free state.
