In a recent address to the Uttar Pradesh state assembly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing critique against Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, countering allegations regarding the management and significance of the Maha Kumbh festival in Prayagraj. Adityanath's remarks came in response to Yadav's earlier criticisms of the BJP government's handling of the economy and the organization of the Maha Kumbh.
Adityanath began by questioning Akhilesh Yadav's involvement during his tenure as Chief Minister, alleging negligence in overseeing the arrangements of the Kumbh Mela. "Their CM did not have the time to monitor Kumbh and see its arrangements and therefore, he made a non-sanatani in charge of Kumbh," remarked Adityanath, highlighting what he perceived as a lack of attention to the religious sentiments associated with the event.
Referring to past incidents, Adityanath recalled the 2013 Kumbh Mela, criticizing the alleged corruption and environmental concerns that plagued the event. He contrasted this with the recent Maha Kumbh, praising the current administration's efforts in hosting a successful event. "For the first time, people from the North, South, East, and West have become part of this event. People from 74 countries are participating, and ministers from many countries are also taking part," noted Adityanath, emphasizing the global significance of the event.
Highlighting the international participation and positive feedback received during the recent Kumbh, Adityanath cited visits from dignitaries like President Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Dhankhar, and the King of Bhutan, as well as Heads of Missions from 74 countries. He underscored the global attention garnered by the event, showcasing its success in uniting devotees and promoting cultural exchange.
"On the day of the Amrit Snan, media channels were broadcasting live, and we could hear from foreign tourists who had come and experienced the Kumbh Mela. They were amazed by the event," remarked Adityanath, highlighting the event's positive impact on promoting Sanatan Dharma and cultural rituals globally.
In conclusion, Adityanath defended the administration's efforts in organizing the Maha Kumbh, dismissing allegations of mismanagement raised by Akhilesh Yadav and asserting the event's unprecedented success in fostering cultural harmony and religious devotion on a global scale.
