Web Series Panchayat Season 5 Shoot Begins, Makers Share First Glimpse from Phulera

Six years after it first charmed audiences, Panchayat continues its heartfelt journey. Premiering on April 3, 2020, the beloved rural drama has steadily grown into one of India’s most cherished shows. Marking its sixth anniversary, Prime Video has finally delivered the update fans were eagerly waiting for—Season 5 is officially in production.

The announcement came with fresh behind-the-scenes photos from the set, offering a glimpse into life once again in Phulera. Familiar faces, including Jitendra Kumar and Sanvikaa, were spotted alongside the ensemble cast, instantly rekindling excitement among viewers.

The timing of this reveal feels symbolic. Over the years, Panchayat has built its reputation quietly, relying on strong storytelling and relatable characters rather than spectacle. Each season has deepened its connection with audiences, and Season 4, in particular, elevated that bond further. The makers shared the update during Prime Video’s slate announcement with a caption that resonated with fans: “6 years of being in Phulera and never wanting to leave #PanchayatOnPrime, New Season, Now Filming.”

Where Season 4 Left Off

Season 4 did not offer neat resolutions—it left its characters standing at emotional crossroads. Abhishek Tripathi, fondly known as Sachiv Ji (played by Jitendra Kumar), was seen contemplating his future after his CAT results. Meanwhile, Manju Devi, portrayed by Neena Gupta, faced the aftermath of a tough electoral defeat. Pradhan Ji, played by Raghubir Yadav, was still processing the shifting dynamics around him.

Rather than concluding arcs, the season paused at a critical juncture—leaving viewers invested in what comes next.

What to Expect from Season 5

Season 5 is expected to pick up right where the story paused, continuing its signature blend of understated humour, emotional depth, and the unpredictability of village life. While the tone remains grounded and authentic, the stakes appear to be higher this time, promising more layered storytelling.

The show remains under the banner of The Viral Fever, with Deepak Kumar Mishra and Chandan Kumar leading the creative vision. Chandan Kumar has penned the new season, while Mishra returns to direct.

The much-loved ensemble cast is set to reprise their roles, including Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy, Durgesh Kumar, Sunita Rajwar, and Pankaj Jha.

As cameras roll once again in Phulera, fans can look forward to revisiting a world that feels both simple and deeply real—a rare combination that has made Panchayat a standout in India’s streaming landscape.
