Uttar Pradesh has become first state in the country to fully vaccinate three crore people against corona virus. State is also number one in total covid vaccination with more than 12 crore 65 lakh doses of covid vaccine administered so far. Yesterday, only two new cases of covid infection were found in the state which is lowest in recent times.
On the other hand after getting information about the infection of zika virus in one person in Kanpur the health department conducted survey in 1 km radius of the location of the infected person. DG health of state said that government is identifying people having symptoms of fever in 1 km radius area and getting them tested for zika virus.
Union Health Ministry has rushed a high level multi-disciplinary team to Uttar Pradesh after getting information regarding a case of Zika Virus Disease in a 57-year-old male from Kanpur. The person was tested positive for Zika virus disease on 22nd October.
The multidisciplinary team comprising of an entomologist, public health specialists and gynaecologist drawn from National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, National Center for Disease Control and Dr. RML Hospital, New Delhi has been deployed by Union Health Ministry to assist the State Health authorities for control and containment measures of the Zika virus disease.
The team shall work closely with the State Health Department, take a stock of the situation on the ground and assess whether the Union Health Ministry’s Action Plan for Zika Management is being implemented. The team will also recommend necessary public health interventions for management of Zika in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
