US President Donald Trump on Saturday claimed that Iran is no longer the “bully” of the Middle East and has instead become a “complete loser” after joint military strikes by the United States and Israel that reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. His remarks came as the conflict in the Middle East entered its second week with tensions continuing to escalate.
In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, the 79-year-old US president said Iran had been forced to apologise to neighbouring countries and promise that it would not launch further attacks against them. According to Trump, the assurance came after relentless military action by the United States and Israel.
Trump asserted that Iran had long attempted to dominate the region but had now suffered a historic defeat. “They have said, ‘Thank you President Trump.’ I have said, ‘You’re welcome!’ Iran is no longer the ‘Bully of the Middle East,’ they are, instead, ‘THE LOSER OF THE MIDDLE EAST,’ and will be for many decades until they surrender or, more likely, completely collapse!” he wrote in his post.
The US president also warned that further military action was under consideration if Iran continued what he described as “bad behaviour.” Trump said several areas and groups that had not previously been targeted could now face potential strikes.
“Under serious consideration for complete destruction and certain death, because of Iran’s bad behavior, are areas and groups of people that were not considered for targeting up until this moment in time. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he added.
The comments come amid the intensifying conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran, which has raised concerns across the Middle East about the risk of a wider regional war. While Iran has reportedly signalled that it will refrain from attacking neighbouring countries, the situation remains highly volatile as military operations and diplomatic tensions continue to unfold.
