TCS Nashik Case: Key Accused Nida Khan Seeks Anticipatory Bail on Basis of Her Being Pregnant

A major controversy surrounding the Nashik unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has taken a new turn, with key accused Nida Khan reportedly seeking anticipatory bail while remaining untraceable. According to her family, the 25-year-old is currently in Mumbai and expecting her first child—an aspect that may play a significant role in her legal plea.

Accused on the Run, Court Petition Filed

Nida Khan, who joined TCS’s BPO division in Nashik in 2021, is among those accused in a case involving allegations of forced religious conversion and sexual harassment. While she has not yet been taken into custody, Khan has approached a Nashik court seeking anticipatory bail, citing her medical condition. Authorities are expected to verify these claims through official medical channels as the investigation progresses.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed by the police last week, is actively working to locate Khan and examine the broader allegations tied to the case.

Multiple Complaints Trigger Major Probe

The case stems from nine complaints lodged by employees, including eight women, who have accused senior colleagues of mental harassment, sexual misconduct, and coercion over a period spanning February 2022 to March 2026.

Police have so far arrested seven individuals, including six men and a woman HR head. Those arrested have been identified as Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Raza Memon, Shahrukh Qureshi, Shafi Sheikh, Asif Aftab Ansari, and Ashwini Chainani. All have been suspended from their roles pending investigation.

Among the allegations are claims that one accused maintained a physical relationship with a colleague under false promises of marriage, while others allegedly engaged in inappropriate conduct, including unwelcome physical contact and derogatory remarks about personal and marital matters.

In a particularly serious charge, police stated that one male employee was allegedly coerced into performing Namaz and subjected to religious insults, adding another dimension to the case.

Alleged Institutional Negligence

Complainants have also raised concerns about the role of the company’s internal mechanisms, alleging that repeated complaints to senior officials and the HR department went unaddressed.

According to a police statement, a senior officer failed to act on complaints of molestation and, in effect, enabled the accused individuals by not taking appropriate action.

TCS Responds with ‘Zero-Tolerance’ Stand

In response to the allegations, TCS reiterated its commitment to employee safety and workplace ethics. The company emphasized its “zero-tolerance policy” toward harassment and coercion and stated that immediate steps were taken once the matter came to light.

Senior leadership, including Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran, described the allegations as “gravely concerning and anguishing.” He confirmed that a comprehensive internal investigation is underway, led by Chief Operating Officer Arathi Subramanian.

TCS has affirmed full cooperation with law enforcement agencies, stating that further action will be determined based on the outcome of both internal and police investigations.

Investigation Continues

As the SIT intensifies its probe, authorities are focused on verifying claims, gathering evidence, and ensuring accountability. The case has sparked widespread concern over workplace safety, corporate responsibility, and the effectiveness of grievance redressal systems in large organizations.

With one key accused still absconding and serious allegations under scrutiny, the outcome of the investigation is expected to have significant legal and institutional implications.
