Six Arrested in Nashik MNC Sexual Harassment Case; SIT Formed to Probe Multiple Allegations

In a serious case highlighting workplace misconduct, six individuals—including a team leader—have been arrested following allegations of sexual harassment by women employees at a multinational company in Nashik. Police confirmed on Wednesday that the alleged incidents span a period of nearly four years.

Authorities have registered nine separate cases against the accused, invoking charges related to sexual harassment as well as hurting religious sentiments. According to the police, the allegations detail a pattern of abuse, misconduct, and institutional negligence.

One of the accused is alleged to have engaged in a physical relationship with a female employee under the false promise of marriage. In another instance, an employee reported inappropriate physical contact and derogatory remarks targeting her personal and marital life. Police statements further reveal that the accused made obscene comments about a complainant’s physical appearance, contributing to a hostile work environment.

The situation is further aggravated by claims that senior management failed to act. “When the complainant repeatedly lodged verbal complaints regarding these incidents with the company’s head officer, he failed to take cognizance… instead, he effectively abetted their actions,” police said in an official statement.

In a separate but related allegation, the accused reportedly forced a male employee to perform Namaz and mocked his religious beliefs, leading to additional charges concerning religious insult.

Five of the accused were arrested on Tuesday and presented before a local court the following day. They have been remanded to police custody until April 10, while one accused remains in judicial custody.

To ensure a thorough investigation, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted under the leadership of ACP (Crime) Sandeep Mitke, following directives from Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik.

The case has raised serious concerns about workplace safety, accountability, and the need for stricter enforcement of harassment laws within corporate environments.
