Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta and several MLAs participated in a Tiranga Yatra at the premises of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, reaffirming the message of national unity, democratic values and constitutional commitment.
The yatra began at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi within the Assembly complex and concluded at the statue of Dr B. R. Ambedkar. The symbolic route brought together two towering figures of India’s freedom struggle and constitutional journey, underscoring the importance of the values that continue to guide the country’s democratic institutions.
During the yatra, the participants carried the national flag and expressed their commitment to the ideals of unity, patriotism and democracy. The participation of the Chief Minister, Assembly Speaker and legislators also highlighted the significance of the national flag as a symbol that transcends political differences and brings citizens together.
The event at the Delhi Assembly premises carried particular significance as the legislature represents one of the key pillars of democratic governance. Beginning the yatra from Mahatma Gandhi’s statue served as a tribute to his philosophy of non-violence, truth and national unity, while its culmination at Dr B. R. Ambedkar’s statue highlighted the values of equality, justice and constitutional democracy.
The Tiranga Yatra also served as a reminder of the responsibilities of elected representatives in upholding the Constitution and strengthening democratic institutions. The participants reiterated the importance of maintaining the unity and integrity of the nation while working towards the welfare and development of its people.
The programme reflected the broader spirit of national pride associated with the Tricolour and emphasised that the ideals of the freedom movement and the Constitution remain central to India’s democratic journey.
