The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on Wednesday appointed three new trustees as part of a major administrative reshuffle at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
The newly appointed trustees are Delhi-based Mahesh Bhagchandka, Ayodhya resident Madan Mohan Pandey and Nirmala Yadav of Shikohabad. Their appointments were discussed and finalised during an important meeting of the Trust's office-bearers in Ayodhya.
Bhagchandka is reportedly related to late Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Ashok Singhal, who played a prominent role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. The inclusion of Bhagchandka, along with Pandey and Yadav, marks a fresh addition to the Trust's administrative structure.
The meeting is being held at Mani Ram Das Chhawani, the residence of Trust president Mahant Nritya Gopal Das. Senior office-bearers are also deliberating on appointments to other vacant positions as part of the ongoing restructuring.
One of the key decisions expected from the meeting is the announcement of the first Chief Executive Officer of the Ram Temple Trust.
The CEO will oversee the administrative functioning of the temple and play a crucial role in managing the day-to-day operations of the Ram Temple complex and its associated activities.
The move assumes significance as the Trust undertakes an overhaul of its administrative arrangements following the stepping down of General Secretary Champat Rai and Anil Mishra, a member of the Trust, amid allegations concerning the theft of donations and offerings at the temple.
Several names have emerged as possible contenders for the CEO's position. Former IPS officer Rajesh Pandey and former IAS officer Dinesh Chandra are reportedly among the prominent candidates. Retired IAS officer Yogeshwar Ram Mishra has also been discussed, although reports indicate that he did not appear for the interview. Former IPS officer Paresh Saxena is another name associated with the selection process.
The Trust, however, has not officially disclosed the final shortlist of candidates.
The selection process was initiated after a three-member search committee was constituted on July 6. The panel includes retired Justice Pramod Kohli, retired Lieutenant General Vishnukant Chaturvedi and Suresh Haware.
The response to the CEO recruitment process was substantial, with 5,585 people applying for the position. Of these, 3,570 candidates completed and submitted their application forms.
The Trust's latest meeting is reportedly the third gathering of its members since allegations surrounding theft of temple offerings came to light. The appointment of new trustees and the selection of a CEO are expected to strengthen the administrative framework of the Ram Temple as the shrine continues to attract a large number of devotees.
