Political Uproar in Lok Sabha Over Rahul Gandhi's Claims Regarding China; RM Rajnath Said: "He Is Lying"

Political Uproar in Lok Sabha Over Rahul Gandhi's Claims Regarding China; RM Rajnath Said:

In a dramatic turn of events in the Lok Sabha, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday (February 4, 2025) countered Rahul Gandhi's assertions regarding China, accusing him of spreading falsehoods. Addressing the House, Singh stated that Rahul Gandhi had falsely accused the Army Chief in his speech on February 3, 2025, regarding the situation on the India-China border.

Singh clarified that the Army Chief's statement merely referenced traditional disputes between both nations and highlighted recent military withdrawals as part of established protocols. The government had shared these details during the parliamentary session.

"Rahul Gandhi's claims about the Army Chief's remarks are completely baseless," declared the Defense Minister, continuing, "It is regrettable that Rahul Gandhi indulges in irresponsible politics concerning national interests. If there are Indian territories under Chinese occupation, it is the result of historical events such as the 1962 war, where China occupied 38,000 square kilometers in Aksai Chin, and the illegal transfer of 5,180 square kilometers to China by Pakistan in 1963. Rahul Gandhi should reflect on this phase of our history."

What Did Rahul Gandhi Say? Participating in the discussion on the motion of thanks to the President's address in Parliament, Rahul Gandhi remarked, "Manufacturing work has been given to Chinese companies." Holding a mobile phone, he added, "This is not 'Made in India' but 'Assembled in India'." He further stated, "In a time of conflict, the country depends on components made in China because 'Make in India' has failed. The Prime Minister denied this, and the Army Chief denied that China is sitting on our 4000 square kilometers of territory."

In response, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiran Rijiju immediately expressed objection, stating, "This is a serious matter; such unverified statements cannot be made."

The exchange underscores escalating tensions between the government and the opposition, highlighting critical national security issues amid ongoing geopolitical challenges.

The political uproar continues to resonate within Parliament, shaping discussions on strategic defense and economic policies amid India's evolving international relations landscape.
