PM Modi Urges NDA MPs from Uttar Pradesh to Leverage Social Media, Amplify Development Narrative

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a strategic meeting with Members of Parliament from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) representing Uttar Pradesh. Against the backdrop of the ongoing Parliament Winter Session, the Prime Minister focused on enhancing public outreach, advising the legislators to proactively utilise social media platforms to connect with their constituents.

Emphasising the importance of communication, PM Modi instructed the MPs to effectively disseminate information about the development work being undertaken by them. “You just focus on doing your work,” the Prime Minister said, underscoring that public awareness of these efforts is crucial. He highlighted a perceived gap between the NDA's continuous groundwork and its public perception, noting, "We work continuously, but our schemes and achievements do not get adequately publicised among the people."

In his address, the Prime Minister drew a sharp contrast between the NDA and the opposition Congress. He accused the grand old party of making “fake promises” and creating an illusion of work only as elections approach. In contrast, he asserted that the NDA works “round the clock for the people.”

The political context of Uttar Pradesh, which sends 80 MPs to the Lok Sabha, loomed large over the meeting. The state is set to hold assembly elections in 2027. In the 2024 general elections, the BJP-led NDA secured 36 seats in the state. The BJP holds 33 of these, with the remaining three shared by allies Rashtriya Lok Dal (2) and Apna Dal (Soneylal) (1). Prime Minister Modi himself is the MP from Varanasi, a seat he has held since 2014.

The meeting is part of a series of engagements during the Winter Session, which concludes on December 19. A day prior, on Thursday, PM Modi hosted a dinner for all NDA MPs at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, in New Delhi. Reflecting on the gathering, the Prime Minister posted on X, “Was a delight to have hosted NDA MPs for dinner… The NDA family represents a shared commitment to good governance, national development and regional aspirations. Together, we will continue working to strengthen our nation’s development journey in the years ahead.”

This directive to Uttar Pradesh MPs underscores a concerted effort to bridge the communication gap and directly shape the political narrative ahead of the crucial 2027 state polls, leveraging digital tools to amplify the alliance’s development agenda.
