As scorching temperatures continue to affect several parts of the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to citizens to remain cautious and compassionate during the ongoing heatwave conditions. In a heartfelt message shared on social media, the Prime Minister advised people to take all necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from the extreme heat.
Highlighting the growing challenges caused by soaring temperatures in daily life, Mr Modi urged people to stay hydrated at all times and carry water whenever stepping out of their homes. He stressed that simple acts of care and sensitivity can make a significant difference during such difficult weather conditions.
The Prime Minister encouraged citizens to offer a glass of water to anyone who may be thirsty, describing kindness and empathy as essential during the intense summer heat. He also asked people to regularly check on family members, neighbours, and loved ones, especially the elderly and vulnerable, to ensure they are safe and drinking enough water.
Mr Modi advised everyone to avoid venturing outdoors during the harsh afternoon sun and to take adequate rest whenever possible. He noted that heatwaves can seriously affect health and well-being, making awareness and preventive care extremely important.
In a thoughtful gesture towards animals and birds struggling in the heat, the Prime Minister also urged citizens to place small vessels filled with water outside homes, balconies, rooftops, shops, and offices. He appreciated those who already keep earthen pots and water pitchers outside their premises for passersby and animals.
The Prime Minister’s message comes at a time when several regions across India are witnessing rising temperatures and heatwave-like conditions. Health experts have repeatedly advised people to stay indoors during peak heat hours, consume plenty of fluids, and remain alert to signs of dehydration and heatstroke.
Calling for collective responsibility, Mr Modi appealed to citizens to support one another with compassion and humanity. He said that caring for fellow human beings, as well as birds and animals, reflects the spirit of social harmony and mutual support during challenging times.
The appeal has resonated widely on social media, with many citizens and organisations sharing messages promoting hydration, public water facilities, and community care initiatives to help people cope with the severe summer conditions.
