Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka on August 1, 2026, to inaugurate key infrastructure projects, lay foundation stones for major development initiatives worth over ₹17,900 crore, and dedicate a cultural landmark inspired by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. The visit underscores the Centre's continued focus on strengthening connectivity, promoting advanced manufacturing, accelerating renewable energy infrastructure, and fostering youth development.
The Prime Minister will begin his visit in Andhra Pradesh, where he is scheduled to arrive at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district. At around 11 a.m., he will undertake a walkthrough of the passenger terminal building of the newly developed Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport before formally inaugurating the Greenfield airport at around 11:30 a.m. During the event, he will also lay the foundation stone, inaugurate, and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects worth over ₹17,900 crore. He will address a public gathering following the inauguration.
Developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model at a cost exceeding ₹5,640 crore, the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport has been designed to handle six million passengers annually. The Greenfield airport features a modern passenger terminal equipped with state-of-the-art technologies aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and passenger convenience.
The airport incorporates Artificial Intelligence (AI), Building Information Modelling (BIM), Airside 4.0 technologies, an Airport Predictive Operations Centre (APOC), biometric passenger processing, automated baggage handling systems, and intelligent operational monitoring solutions. These advanced systems are expected to improve safety, optimise resource utilisation, and provide a seamless travel experience.
Sustainability has been integrated into the airport's design through energy-efficient HVAC systems, LED lighting, a 5 MW solar power plant, rainwater harvesting, smart building management systems, waste management initiatives, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and environmental monitoring measures. Registered with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the terminal has been designed in accordance with Green Building Standards.
Architecturally, the airport reflects Andhra Pradesh's cultural heritage, with the roof inspired by traditional Chuttilu cottages and the scenic landscapes of the Araku Valley. Its flowing design symbolises the graceful movement of a flying fish, blending regional aesthetics with contemporary airport architecture. The facility is expected to significantly boost tourism, trade, investment, employment, and regional air connectivity.
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone for the ASIP Semiconductor Project in Visakhapatnam, being developed at an investment of over ₹460 crore by ASIP Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in partnership with APACT of the Republic of Korea.
The facility will be Andhra Pradesh's first semiconductor manufacturing unit approved under the India Semiconductor Mission. Once operational, it is expected to manufacture approximately 96 million semiconductor chips annually while generating high-skilled employment and fostering a robust semiconductor ecosystem in the region.
The Prime Minister will also launch several major power transmission projects aimed at strengthening India's renewable energy network.
He will lay the foundation stone for the Transmission System for Integration of Kurnool-IV Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Phase-I (4.5 GW), being implemented by POWERGRID through a Special Purpose Vehicle with an investment of about ₹5,550 crore.
In addition, he will inaugurate the Transmission System for Kurnool Wind Energy Zone/Solar Energy Zone (Part A and Part B), developed at a cost of around ₹3,550 crore, along with the transmission scheme for Solar Energy Zones in Ananthapuram (2,500 MW) and Kurnool (1,000 MW), built at a cost of over ₹820 crore.
These projects will facilitate the evacuation and integration of renewable energy into the National Grid, improve the availability of clean electricity across the country, and contribute significantly to India's clean energy transition by reducing dependence on fossil fuel-based power generation.
Prime Minister Modi will dedicate to the nation and lay the foundation stone for National Highway projects worth more than ₹1,880 crore.
Projects being inaugurated include the four-lane access-controlled Greenfield highway from Recherla to Guruvaygudem and the Guruvaygudem to Devarapalle sections of NH-365BG, along with the four-lane Tadipatri Bypass on NH-67.
He will also lay the foundation stone for a high-level bridge at Lingasamudram on the Penchalakona-Yerpedu section of NH-565. These highway projects are expected to reduce congestion in Vijayawada and surrounding urban centres, improve road safety, shorten travel time between Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad, and strengthen regional connectivity.
Later in the day, at around 3:30 p.m., the Prime Minister will travel to Mysuru, Karnataka, where he will inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre—Viveka Smaraka—at the Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama.
The memorial commemorates Swami Vivekananda's historic visit to Mysuru in November 1892 during his journey across India. During that visit, he interacted with scholars and devotees and received the patronage of Maharaja Sri Chamarajendra Wadiyar X, whose support later enabled Vivekananda's participation in the Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893.
Spread across more than 81,000 square feet at the historic Niranjana Math, the Viveka Smaraka comprises a main building and an annex block. It houses a 4-D Experience Centre, exhibition hall, 700-seat amphitheatre, classrooms, conference rooms, library, reading room, meditation and yoga hall, book stall, and dedicated facilities for students preparing for competitive examinations.
The centre has been established as a hub for value-based education, leadership development, and personality building inspired by Swami Vivekananda's philosophy of nation-building. It is expected to benefit over 10,000 students from nearby educational institutions as well as urban and rural youth through lectures, workshops, short-term courses, and capacity-building programmes.
Prime Minister Modi is also scheduled to address gatherings at both Bhogapuram and Mysuru during the day's events, highlighting the government's commitment to infrastructure-led development, technological innovation, renewable energy expansion, and youth empowerment.
