PM Modi to Inaugurate Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat Corridor in Major Infrastructure Push

In a significant boost to regional connectivity and urban infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Meerut tomorrow. During his one-day visit, the Prime Minister will flag off the much-anticipated Meerut Metro and the Namo Bharat Train, marking a new chapter in the development of the National Capital Region (NCR).

The Prime Minister’s itinerary begins at the Shatabdi Nagar Namo Bharat Station, where he will officially flag off the new services. He will then undertake a Metro ride himself, traveling up to the Meerut South Station, demonstrating the government's commitment to world-class public transport.

Dedication of the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor

A cornerstone of the visit will be the dedication of the entire 82-kilometer Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor to the nation. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the remaining sections of this ambitious project, which is the country’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). This corridor is designed to drastically cut down travel time between Delhi and Meerut, providing a seamless, high-speed commuting alternative to road travel.

The inauguration of the full stretch will enhance economic integration between the national capital and the western parts of Uttar Pradesh, fostering growth and employment opportunities in the region.

Unveiling Development Projects Worth Thousands of Crores

Beyond the transport sector, Mr. Modi will lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation a host of other development projects. These initiatives, cumulatively valued at around 12,930 crore rupees, span various sectors aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare, and education in the region.

A Vision for Modern Urban Mobility

Officials from the Prime Minister’s Office stated that these projects are a testament to Prime Minister Modi’s vision of transforming urban mobility in India. The focus remains on ensuring seamless, efficient, modern, and sustainable public transport systems that significantly improve the ease of living for the common citizen.

“The inauguration of the Meerut Metro and the full Namo Bharat corridor will provide further impetus to our commitment to world-class infrastructure,” an official statement read. “These modern transit systems are not just about connectivity; they are about decongesting cities, reducing pollution, and providing a safe, dignified, and speedy commute for millions.”

The Prime Minister’s visit to Meerut is expected to be a landmark event, setting the stage for a new era of rapid transit and urban development in western Uttar Pradesh.
