Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday released the autobiography of former President Ram Nath Kovind, titled ‘Triumph of the Indian Republic: My Life, My Struggles’, at an event in New Delhi. The book presents a deeply personal account of Kovind’s remarkable journey, chronicling his early life, struggles, achievements and eventual rise to the highest constitutional office in the country as the 14th President of India.
The autobiography offers insights into the experiences, values and circumstances that shaped Kovind’s personality and public life. It also reflects on his long association with public service and his understanding of India’s democratic institutions.
Speaking at the launch, Prime Minister Modi said Kovind’s guidance during his tenure as President had been a great source of strength for him. He said the autobiography would provide readers with valuable insights into Kovind’s life, personality and contributions while also serving as an important legacy for Indian democracy and society.
Modi highlighted that Kovind has continued to remain engaged with important national issues even after completing his tenure as President. He particularly mentioned Kovind’s involvement in discussions and initiatives related to ‘One Nation, One Election’.
The Prime Minister urged the younger generation to read the autobiography and understand Kovind’s life journey in his own words. He said that the experiences and writings of distinguished public figures could inspire young Indians and deepen their understanding of the country’s democratic journey.
Referring to the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule, Modi said these great personalities had dreamed of building an India where even the poorest and most deprived sections of society could aspire to reach the highest positions.
He said personalities such as Ram Nath Kovind had demonstrated through their hard work, determination and capabilities that these long-standing dreams could become a reality. According to Modi, Kovind’s journey represents the transformation of an individual life as well as the broader evolution of Indian democracy.
Speaking on the occasion, Ram Nath Kovind said politics should not be viewed merely as a means of acquiring power but as an instrument for serving the nation. He emphasised the transformative role of education, saying it opens the doors to numerous possibilities, provides new directions and creates opportunities in life.
Kovind also referred to the government’s welfare initiatives, including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, saying that crores of people have been provided with a roof over their heads under the scheme. He stressed the importance of ensuring that development reaches the most disadvantaged sections of society.
The release of ‘Triumph of the Indian Republic: My Life, My Struggles’ brings together the personal experiences and public contributions of a former President whose journey reflects the possibilities offered by India’s democratic system. The autobiography is expected to offer readers, particularly young people, a first-hand account of the challenges, values and experiences that shaped Kovind’s path from his early years to the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
