Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday highlighted the significant contribution of teachers to society on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, while paying homage to former President and eminent philosopher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi said Teachers’ Day provides an opportunity to recognise and appreciate the important role played by teachers in shaping society and nurturing future generations.
The Prime Minister also recalled Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is observed as Teachers’ Day in India. Dr. Radhakrishnan, a distinguished philosopher, educationist and statesman, made significant contributions to the field of education and public life.
Modi further shared glimpses of his interaction with the recipients of the National Teachers’ Awards, who were invited to his official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg on Friday.
Sharing moments from the interaction, the Prime Minister wrote on X, “#TeachersDay is about appreciating the strong contribution of teachers to our society. It is also a day to pay homage to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan.”
