Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi extended his prayers for the safety of those affected and assured that India stands ready to assist its neighboring countries.

"Concerned by the situation in the wake of the earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. Praying for the safety and well-being of everyone. India stands ready to offer all possible assistance. In this regard, asked our authorities to be on standby. Also asked the MEA to remain in touch with the governments of Myanmar and Thailand," the Prime Minister wrote.

Details of the Earthquake

The earthquakes, which struck with significant intensity, caused panic and structural damage in several areas. In Bangkok, a high-rise building under construction collapsed, raising fears of casualties. Reports indicate tremors were felt across multiple regions, with authorities assessing the extent of the damage.

India’s Offer of Assistance

India has a history of providing humanitarian aid and disaster relief to neighboring countries during crises. Following PM Modi’s directive, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has been instructed to maintain close communication with the governments of Myanmar and Thailand to assess their needs.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other agencies have been put on standby, ready to deploy if required. India’s swift response highlights its commitment to regional cooperation and solidarity in times of distress.

International Response

Several countries and international organizations have also expressed solidarity with the affected nations. The earthquakes serve as a reminder of the seismic risks in the region and the importance of disaster preparedness.

As rescue and relief operations continue, the global community watches closely, hoping for minimal loss of life and a swift recovery for those impacted.

Prime Minister Modi’s prompt response underscores India’s role as a responsible and compassionate neighbor. With offers of assistance and prayers for the affected, India reaffirms its commitment to standing with Myanmar and Thailand during this challenging time.
