PM Modi Calls for Strong Centre-State Collaboration to Achieve Viksit Bharat Vision

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asserted that India continues to move forward with confidence and determination despite a period of global uncertainty and instability. Addressing the 11th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of collective efforts by the Centre and States in realizing the vision of a developed India, or Viksit Bharat, by 2047.

Chairing the meeting, Mr. Modi said that as India advances on its development journey, the responsibility of both the Union and State governments becomes even more significant. He stressed that cooperation, dialogue, and the sharing of best practices should remain the guiding principles of interactions among States. Highlighting the role of NITI Aayog, the Prime Minister said the institution can serve as a crucial platform for collaboration, enabling States to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and work collectively towards national development goals.

The Prime Minister underscored the need to create a robust ecosystem for India’s youth through quality education, demand-driven skill development, and greater employment opportunities. He stated that empowered and skilled youth would be the driving force behind the country’s transformation into a developed nation. According to Mr. Modi, investments in education and skill-building are essential to preparing the next generation for emerging opportunities in a rapidly evolving global economy.

Highlighting India’s growing engagement with international markets, Mr. Modi noted that the country has signed several Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with nations across the world. He said these agreements open new avenues for economic growth and exports while presenting significant opportunities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The Prime Minister urged businesses to align with global standards and enhance their competitiveness to take full advantage of these trade opportunities.

Women-led development, he said, remains a cornerstone of the Viksit Bharat vision. Acknowledging the contributions of women across sectors such as agriculture, entrepreneurship, science, and innovation, Mr. Modi called on States to prioritize education, skill development, safety, and empowerment initiatives for women. He emphasized that unlocking the full potential of Nari Shakti would be critical to accelerating India’s development trajectory.

The Governing Council meeting is focused on promoting entrepreneurship, strengthening skilling initiatives, and generating sustainable employment opportunities across the country. Discussions are also centered on developing an implementation roadmap that leverages governance reforms, digital public infrastructure, and strategic partnerships while ensuring accountability and measurable outcomes.

The theme of this year’s meeting, “Inclusive Human Development for Viksit Bharat @2047,” highlights the commitment to ensuring the well-being and development of every citizen, irrespective of age, region, gender, or socio-economic background. Participants are deliberating on strategies to translate this vision into tangible and measurable benefits for people across the country.

The meeting has brought together Chief Ministers and Lieutenant Governors from across India to discuss an Inclusive Human Development Framework built around four key pillars: Foundational Human Capital and Future-Ready Skills; Productive Employment, Entrepreneurship and Decentralised Growth; Health, Nutrition and Well-being; and Equity and Dignity for All.

The deliberations are expected to contribute to shaping policies and initiatives that support inclusive growth and help India progress steadily toward its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
