NDA Government Formation Post-Lok Sabha Election Results: Nitish wants 3 ministerial posts, will stay in Delhi till swearing in

As the dust settles on the Lok Sabha election results, preparations for forming the NDA government are in full swing. With the BJP falling short of an absolute majority, negotiations with NDA allies have become crucial for the establishment of Modi Government 3.0. Reports have surfaced about the demands and expectations of these allies, particularly focusing on ministerial positions.

According to sources, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has proposed a formula for ministerial appointments. Based on his formula, his party, the Janata Dal (United) or JD(U), should receive one ministerial post for every four MPs. With 12 MPs in the Lok Sabha, Nitish Kumar is therefore seeking three cabinet positions for his party.

JD(U) sources revealed that Nitish Kumar might stay in Delhi until the swearing-in ceremony of the Modi government 3.0. He is expected to engage in discussions with NDA leaders and might even visit the Rashtrapati Bhavan to stake claims. In the meantime, Nitish is scheduled to hold a meeting with the newly elected JD(U) MPs. The JD(U) has no objections to the BJP retaining the position of Lok Sabha Speaker.

Another key ally, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), has also outlined its desired ministerial portfolios. The TDP is likely to demand the following ministries:

Lok Sabha Speaker
Road Transport
Rural Development
Health
Housing and Urban Affairs
Agriculture
Water Resources (Jal Shakti)
Information and Broadcasting
Education
Finance (Minister of State)
These demands reflect the TDP's strategic focus on sectors crucial for both regional development and national interest.

As negotiations continue, the formation of Modi Government 3.0 will depend heavily on satisfying the demands of NDA allies while maintaining the coalition's stability and cohesion. The BJP's ability to effectively manage these negotiations will be pivotal in ensuring a smooth transition to the new government and its subsequent functioning. The coming days will be critical in shaping the next phase of Indian governance, with the eyes of the nation firmly fixed on the unfolding political dynamics.
