Nashik TCS Case: Court Denies Interim Protection to Nida Khan, Hearing Deferred Till April 27

In a significant development in the ongoing Nashik TCS case, a local court has declined to grant interim protection to accused Nida Khan, leaving her without temporary legal relief as her anticipatory bail plea remains pending. The matter has now been adjourned until April 27, giving the prosecution additional time to respond.

Court Rejects Interim Relief Plea

Nida Khan’s legal team had approached the court seeking interim protection, arguing that such relief was necessary while the anticipatory bail application is under consideration. However, the court chose not to pass any interim order at this stage.

During the hearing, the complainant’s counsel requested more time to file a written reply. Accepting the plea, the court granted time until April 27, effectively delaying further proceedings in the case.

Arguments Presented in Court

Inside the courtroom, Khan’s counsel highlighted medical grounds, informing the court that the accused is pregnant. Advocate Rahul Kasliwal, representing Khan, argued that anticipatory bail hearings often take time and therefore interim protection was essential to safeguard her rights in the meantime.

On the other hand, the prosecution strongly opposed the bail request and appeared suo motu in the matter. They presented photographs allegedly linked to a BPO picnic and trip, which they argued were relevant to the case.

SC-ST Act Charges Under Scrutiny

A key point of contention during the proceedings was the application of provisions under the SC-ST Act. The defence argued that the prosecution had failed to present concrete evidence to substantiate these charges.

Despite this, the prosecution maintained its stance, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations and opposing any relief to the accused at this stage.

Police Stand Firm on Investigation

Earlier, a senior Nashik Police official indicated that given the gravity of the charges—particularly those under the SC-ST Act—securing anticipatory bail could prove difficult for the accused if the court strictly considers the invoked sections.

Police officials also claimed that Nida Khan played a significant role in the alleged conversion-related activities. They further stated that while more individuals may be linked to the case, several potential victims have not come forward due to fear and social pressure.

Next Hearing on April 27

With no interim protection granted, all eyes are now on the next hearing scheduled for April 27. The court is expected to take up the anticipatory bail plea after reviewing the prosecution’s written submission, which could play a crucial role in determining the course of the case.
