Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of Nepal's Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), in New Delhi, reaffirming India's commitment to strengthening its longstanding partnership with the neighbouring country.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the significance of Nepal in India's foreign policy framework, describing it as a priority partner under the country's "Neighbourhood First" policy. In a post shared on social media, the Prime Minister emphasized India's desire to further deepen bilateral cooperation and enhance the multifaceted relationship between the two nations.
“Nepal is a priority partner under our Neighbourhood First policy,” Mr. Modi said, adding that India looks forward to working closely with Nepal's new leadership to elevate the special relationship between the two countries to greater heights.
The meeting comes at a time when both nations are seeking to expand cooperation across a range of sectors, including connectivity, trade, energy, infrastructure, and people-to-people exchanges. India and Nepal share deep historical, cultural, religious, and economic ties, making the relationship one of the most significant in South Asia.
Prime Minister Modi also welcomed Mr. Lamichhane's commitment to fostering closer engagement between the two countries.
