Mild tremors were felt in Maharashtra’s Palghar district in the early hours of Monday, January 6. According to the Disaster Management Cell of Palghar, the earthquake registered a magnitude of 3.7 on the Richter scale.
The tremors were recorded at 4:35 a.m., with the epicenter located in Dahanu Taluka, a region prone to seismic activity. Residents of areas such as Bordi, Dapchari, and Talasari reported feeling the ground shake briefly.
Officials have confirmed that no loss of life or property has been reported in the aftermath of the earthquake. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have assured residents that necessary measures are in place to handle any eventualities.
Palghar district, particularly the Dahanu region, has experienced similar seismic events in the past, attributed to tectonic activity in the area. Experts have advised residents to remain cautious but not alarmed, as such low-intensity tremors are common and usually harmless.
