Mamata Banerjee says that no law should be implemented against infiltrators: Sambit Patra

Bharatiya Janata Party’s National Spokesperson and Lok Sabha MP Dr. Sambit Patra, while addressing the media, strongly criticised West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for allegedly creating disruptions during an ED raid in a corruption case and attempting to tamper with evidence. Dr. Sambit Patra stated that Mamata Banerjee has turned Bengal into a place that appears to be outside the laws of India, as if it were a separate territory. Dr. Patra added that in the coming days, the people of Bengal will respond to Mamata Banerjee’s anarchic rule through democratic means and will stand firmly against her.

BJP National Spokesperson highlighted that the manner in which West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has interfered in government functioning has been seen by every household in the country through the media. Perhaps for the first time in India’s history, a situation has arisen where, when the Enforcement Directorate went to conduct raids in a corruption case, the Chief Minister herself allegedly intervened and attempted to remove or destroy evidence. Such an incident has never occurred in the history of India, as has happened in Bengal today. In 2020 there was a CBI case related to the illegal smuggling of coal extracted from leasehold land in the state, which involved large-scale corruption and Hawala transactions. It was a very big coal scam, in which Hawala money was also involved. At that time, an FIR was registered and action has been continuing over the years. Based on that FIR registered in 2020, the Enforcement Directorate today conducted raids at 10 locations across the country, including 6 in Bengal and 4 in Delhi. Under this action, raids were primarily carried out at the premises and offices of Anup Majhi, who is involved in the coal scam, where it also emerged that a hawala racket was active and that the case also attracts provisions under the PMLA Act.

Dr. Patra asserted that money was being routed onward through Hawala, and in this sequence, the premises of a company named IPAC were also raided in Bengal. While the raid was underway at IPAC’s office, some senior police officers arrived there and sought verification from the Enforcement Directorate officials regarding the authenticity of the raid. The ED officials showed their identity cards and all valid documents related to the search, after which the raid was proceeding peacefully. During this time, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee arrived at IPAC’s office along with the Bengal Police and personally entered the premises where the raid was in progress. From there, she took away papers such as physical documents as well as electronic evidence including pen drives and laptops, along with several other kinds of evidence. Perhaps such a scene has not even been seen in Hindi films that a CBI or ED raid is underway and, in the middle of it, a Chief Minister herself arrives and walks away with the evidence.

BJP National Spokesperson stated that a person named Prateek Jain, who manages the entire operations of IPAC and is closely associated with the complete strategy behind IPAC, is at the centre of the matter. Raids were conducted at IPAC’s premises as well as at Prateek Jain’s residence. At both these locations, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself arrived, created disruptions, tampered with electronic and physical evidence, and took it away with her. Mamata Banerjee used the Bengal Police to carry out her intent, and this entire sequence of events clearly indicates that she has a great deal to hide and that there are many secrets she does not want to

be exposed. In 2025, a minister in the Mamata Banerjee government and a ruling party MLA, Madan Mitra, had publicly described people associated with IPAC as corrupt and said that these very people would destroy him. When leaders of the ruling party themselves have levelled allegations of corruption against IPAC, the Chief Minister’s act of arriving at IPAC offices during raids and forcefully removing evidence is, in itself, extremely shameful and deeply distressing.

Dr. Sambit Patra questioned whether Mamata Banerjee turned Bengal into a place that stands outside the laws of India, as if it were a separate territory? A place where Mamata Banerjee says that no law will be implemented against infiltrators, where she says that SIR should not be implemented, where she announces that land will not be given to the BSF for border security, and where she claims that ED raids should not take place but when ED raids do occur, Mamata Banerjee herself arrives at the spot to threaten the officers. Is Mamata Banerjee trying to sever Bengal from India? This is a completely legitimate question, and today every Bengali and every Indian should think about how long this rule of mafia-style governance and intimidation will continue, where the Chief Minister herself comes out onto the streets to protect corruption. The people understand everything, and there is no sympathy in the public mind for corruption. The public does not accept corruption at all. In the coming days, the people of Bengal will respond to Mamata Banerjee’s anarchic rule through democratic means and will stand firmly against her.
