Maharashtra: 16 migrant workers die in Aurangabad train accident

In Maharashtra, one more migrant worker died in hospital after a major train mishap. With this, the death toll of people rose to 16. Five persons have also been injured according to the police. The incident occurred in the early hours of this morning at Satana, near Karmad which lies between Aurangabad and Jalna when labourers were sleeping on the railway track. Police authorities rushed to the spot and dead bodies and injured are shifted to the Aurangabad's Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). All the victims were working as a labourers in a steel factory of Chandanjira district Jalna. The total 20 labourers were on their way towards Aurangabad on foot since yesterday night and slept on the rail track. Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind today said that he is saddened beyond words to learn about the loss of lives in the railway track accident near Aurangabad in Maharashtra. In a tweet, Mr. Kovind said, his thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families and he wishes speedy recovery to the injured. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Udhhav Thackeray and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed grief over loss of life in the tragedy. In a tweet PM Modi said that he is extremely anguish by the human loss in train tragedy in Aurangabad. Modi said that he spoke to the Union Railway Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal who is closely monitoring the situation. Centre has assured all possible assistance to the Maharashtra government if required. Maharashtra CM Udhhav Thackeray also expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of life. He announced Rs. 5 lakh each to the kin of the deceased from the Maharashtra government. Relief and rescue works are still going on the accident site.
