Leaders put themselves above party interests...', Rahul Gandhi said bluntly in Haryana review meeting

Following a significant electoral setback in the Haryana Assembly elections, the Congress party has initiated a phase of introspection and strategic reassessment. Today, party leadership convened a crucial meeting, marking the first major post-election gathering since the defeat, at the residence of party president Mallikarjun Kharge. Among those present was senior leader Rahul Gandhi.

The meeting, attended by key figures including organization secretary K.C. Venugopal, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Uday Bhan, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, in-charge Deepak Babaria, Haryana observer Ashok Gehlot, Ajay Maken, and Pratap Singh Bajwa, focused on analyzing the reasons behind the electoral outcome. Sources revealed that during the meeting, Rahul Gandhi emphasized that personal interests had been prioritized over the party's welfare during the election campaign.

Rahul Gandhi remarked that throughout the election period, the party's interests took a backseat, with individual agendas prevailing. It has been disclosed by sources that a Fact Finding Committee will be constituted soon to scrutinize the election results.

Following the conclusion of the meeting, Ajay Maken stated that the results were unexpected and shocking. He remarked, "Today, we deliberated on the reasons for our defeat in Haryana. We will continue our analysis... K.C. Venugopal will update you on further actions."

It is noteworthy that Kumari Selja, Randeep Surjewala, and Captain Ajay Yadav were not invited to the meeting. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had hinted at convening a possible meeting with the Election Commission to file complaints regarding alleged malfunctions in EVMs. He wrote on social media, "We are analyzing the unexpected results in Haryana. We will inform the Election Commission of complaints from various constituencies. Thank you to all Haryana residents and our tireless workers."

It should be noted that the BJP secured a resounding majority in the Haryana Assembly elections, winning 48 out of 90 seats. Meanwhile, despite efforts to capitalize on anti-incumbency against the BJP after ten years in power, the Congress managed to secure only 37 seats. Additionally, the INLD won 2 seats, while independents also made gains, having declared support for the BJP post meeting with the electoral commission.
