In Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday, there was a cloudburst near the Amarnath cave, due to which there is news of the death of 15 people. Suddenly the water level of Sindh river has also increased due to the cloudburst amidst incessant rains. According to reports, the inundation passed from the middle of the camp of the devotees, after which there was a cry among the people. After the cloudburst, SDRF and NDRF teams are engaged in rescue work at the spot. It is being said that the forecast of rain was predicted by the Meteorological Department earlier and it was raining there. A senior administration official said that the Amarnath Yatra, which began on June 30, has been postponed following the tragedy and a decision on resuming it will be taken after the rescue operation is over. "Most of the pilgrims who were stranded near the holy cave area due to floods last evening have been shifted to Panjtarni. The evacuation operation went on till 3.38 am," he said. An Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) spokesperson said, "There are no passengers on the way. Around 15,000 people have been evacuated so far." Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that rescue and relief operations are underway near the Shri Amarnath Cave. Expressing anguish over the cloudburst near the holy cave, Mr. Modi said, he has spoken to Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha and took stock of the situation. He said, all possible assistance is being provided to the affected. The Prime Minister paid his condolences to the bereaved families. By Vijayraj Surana
