India’s LPG distribution continues smoothly despite tensions in West Asia: Indian Oil

India’s domestic LPG supply remains stable and sufficient despite rising geopolitical tensions in West Asia that have unsettled global energy markets. In a recent statement, Indian Oil Corporation reassured consumers that there has been no disruption in the availability of cooking gas across the country.

The company confirmed that it continues to deliver nearly 28 lakh LPG cylinders daily—figures that remain consistent with normal supply levels prior to the onset of the current geopolitical developments. This steady distribution highlights the resilience of India’s energy supply chain even amid global volatility.

To enhance efficiency and convenience, Indian Oil has urged customers to adopt digital booking methods such as SMS and IVRS. The shift toward digital platforms has already gained significant traction, with approximately 87 per cent of LPG refill bookings now being made through these channels. This digital adoption not only streamlines the booking process but also reduces operational bottlenecks.

Addressing concerns over irregularities in distribution, the company acknowledged reports of malpractices by certain LPG distributors that surfaced through social media and customer complaints. In response, Indian Oil has intensified its monitoring mechanisms by deploying multiple cross-functional teams to carry out surprise inspections across distributorships.

So far, more than 7,500 inspections have been conducted nationwide. As a result, action has been initiated against 141 LPG distributors found violating norms, signaling the company’s zero-tolerance approach toward black marketing and hoarding.

With proactive measures to ensure transparency and strict enforcement against malpractice, India’s LPG ecosystem continues to function smoothly, offering reassurance to millions of households dependent on cooking gas for their daily needs.
