India and France have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), and emerging technologies during the inauguration of the India Pavilion at the prestigious VivaTech 2026 event in Paris. The occasion underscored the growing strategic partnership between the two nations and highlighted their shared vision for responsible and inclusive technological advancement.
Speaking at the inauguration, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized that the India-France partnership has gained new momentum through the India-France Year of Innovation 2026, an initiative announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron. The initiative aims to deepen collaboration across sectors, particularly in technology, research, startups, and innovation ecosystems.

French Minister for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Affairs Anne Le Hénanff praised India's remarkable progress in technology and innovation, describing the country as a global innovation powerhouse. She welcomed India's participation as the AI Country Partner at VivaTech 2026 and acknowledged its growing influence in shaping the future of artificial intelligence.
Highlighting India's achievements in digital transformation and responsible AI development, Le Hénanff said the country's approach reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of leveraging technology for the benefit of society. She noted that the Franco-Indian Year of Innovation is fostering stronger collaboration among startups, universities, research institutions, and technology leaders from both nations.
The French minister stressed that France and India share common values of innovation, responsibility, and action. She said the two countries are working closely to advance trustworthy AI, enhance digital resilience, and promote sustainable technological development that benefits citizens and businesses alike.
