The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for East Madhya Pradesh, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall in the region tomorrow. The warning comes amid continued monsoon activity across several parts of central, northern and northeastern India.
According to the weather department, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely over Bihar, East Rajasthan, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh tomorrow. Authorities and residents in the affected areas have been advised to remain cautious, particularly in locations vulnerable to waterlogging, flash floods and landslides.
The IMD has also forecast heavy rain in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh. Several parts of Vidarbha and Maharashtra are also expected to receive significant rainfall. The weather system is likely to remain active over parts of Odisha and the northeastern states, including Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
Meanwhile, several areas of Jharkhand continue to grapple with flooding and waterlogging following heavy rainfall over the past few days. While rainfall has eased in some areas and water levels in certain rivers have started to recede, the situation remains under close watch.
The administration is monitoring vulnerable areas and keeping track of river levels as well as waterlogged locations. The continuing rainfall forecast in neighbouring and adjoining regions could pose further challenges in low-lying areas.
The latest weather outlook underscores the need for people in rain-affected states to stay updated with official advisories and exercise caution during thunderstorms and periods of intense rainfall. Authorities are also expected to maintain heightened preparedness in areas facing flood and waterlogging risks.
