Intelligence agencies have sounded a high alert across Delhi and Uttarakhand following inputs about a possible terror attack allegedly being planned by Khalistani terrorists over the next few days, according to sources. Security agencies have intensified surveillance and stepped up protection at key locations as a precautionary measure.
Sources said the alert warns that prominent temples in Delhi and Uttarakhand could be among the potential targets. Apart from religious sites, government institutions, railway stations and police establishments have also been identified as vulnerable locations requiring enhanced security.
The alert was issued after authorities received a suspicious email that allegedly referred to several temples, government offices and political leaders as possible targets. Security agencies are treating the contents of the email seriously and have launched a detailed assessment to determine the credibility of the threat.
Following the intelligence input, the Uttarakhand Police, Delhi Police and central intelligence agencies have increased security deployments at sensitive locations. Additional surveillance measures, including intensified patrolling and monitoring of critical infrastructure, have also been put in place.
Delhi Police has initiated an investigation to trace the origin of the email and verify its authenticity. Officials are examining technical evidence and analysing the contents of the message to assess whether it represents a genuine threat or an attempt to spread panic.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the nature or immediacy of the threat, stressing that investigations are still underway. Officials have urged the public to remain vigilant while avoiding the spread of unverified information as precautionary measures continue across both states.
The security alert comes just days after the Rajasthan Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested a woman identified as Babita Dhakad, also known as Khadija, for allegedly maintaining contact with members of the Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed.
The accused, a native of Gangapur City who had been residing in Jaipur, was taken into custody following intelligence inputs suggesting links with anti-national elements.
During a preliminary examination of her mobile phone, investigators allegedly found that she was using two SIM cards and a Facebook account containing objectionable content along with connections to foreign-based profiles. Officials said several profiles in her friend list displayed flags, propaganda related to Jaish-e-Mohammed and other extremist organisations, as well as photographs resembling armed militants.
Investigators also found that she had been in contact with multiple Pakistani and other foreign numbers through WhatsApp. According to sources, some of the Pakistani numbers in her contact list are suspected to be linked to terror operatives.
Sources further claimed that during questioning, the accused told investigators she had converted to Islam after being guided over the phone by a Pakistan-based Mufti. They also alleged that her handlers were planning to facilitate her travel to Pakistan. These claims are part of the ongoing investigation, and authorities have not yet disclosed further details.
Security agencies continue to investigate both developments independently while maintaining heightened vigilance in view of the intelligence inputs. Officials have appealed to citizens to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
