Healing with Human Touch

In Delhi, South Delhi is considered to be the fastest region—growing in terms of both lifestyle and physical appearance. And unsurprisingly, the region boasts of the Pushpavati Singhania Research Institute (PSRI), Asia's leading super specialty hospital for liver, renal and digestive diseases. PSRI is an initiative taken by JK Group—one of the leading and largest industrial houses in India.

Hence to put a curb on these fatal diseases, JK Group picked up the gauntlet and established PSRI in 1996. The Institute achieved a historical feat, when it conducted a kidney transplant, which weighs the heaviest in India, and, therefore, is registered in the Limca Book of Records. “We have a faculty of highly experienced and specialised doctors who are leaders in their respective fields backed by staff, which is highly trained, caring and with an excellent work culture,” points out a beaming Dr Dipak Shukla, Director, Administration, PSRI.

“The ambience of a place psychologically affects human mind. Thus our hospital strives hard to maintain a serene and tranquil environment, which is conducive to early recuperation and in line with international standard of treatment and patients' care,” said Dr Shukla brimming with confidence.

The Hospital has specialisation in endoscopy (diagnostic and therapeutic) service and the state-of-the-art dialysis centre. “We perform about 1000 successful endoscopies in a month. Hardly this number of endoscopy is conducted by any other hospital, and the credit goes to our dedicated Renal Transplant Unit. We also have Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) facility for multi-organ failure patients and this is rarely found in any other hospital,” affirms Dr Shukla. Research and academics being the strong areas of the Institute, which have qualitative researchers to promote and monitor the quality standards of their activities.

“With a comprehensive and flawless approach to clinical services, our Institute aims at providing tertiary care along with extensive community outreach programmes like Community Education Programme as a continuing commitment to its social obligations. The objective of these programmes is to make the society aware of preventions to be taken to stay aside of these diseases,” says Dr Shukla. The facilities at the Institutes are constantly upgraded to keep pace with global advance in related fields.

The PSRI has recently started a “one-stop solution” state-of-the-art diabetic centre in collaboration withz Swami Vivekanand Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (SVYASA) to combat the diabetes yoga way.
