A gym owner was shot dead by unidentified assailants outside his fitness centre in Haryana's Hansi district on Thursday morning, triggering a major police investigation. The victim, identified as Kapil, was attacked near Fawwara Chowk while conducting an exercise session outside his gym.
According to police officials, the incident took place around 5:30 a.m. when two masked attackers arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire at close range. The assailants reportedly fired nearly ten rounds within a span of five seconds, killing Kapil on the spot before fleeing the area.
A woman identified as Shikha was also injured during the firing. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Hisar, where she is undergoing treatment.
Police teams reached the crime scene soon after receiving information about the attack and cordoned off the area. A detailed investigation has been initiated, and the case has been handed over to Haryana’s Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) for further inquiry.
Forensic experts have collected evidence from the scene, while investigators are examining CCTV footage that captured the attack. The footage reportedly shows the two helmet-clad assailants arriving on a motorcycle, carrying out the shooting, and escaping within moments.
Authorities are also recording statements of eyewitnesses and gathering additional evidence to identify and trace the accused. As of now, the motive behind the murder remains unclear.
“We are examining all available evidence, including CCTV footage and witness statements. The investigation is underway,” a police official said.
In a separate but similar incident, unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire outside a gym in Delhi’s Paschim Vihar area early Thursday morning.
The attack occurred around 4 a.m., when the accused allegedly fired approximately seven rounds at the fitness centre before escaping. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Delhi Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed, and officials are exploring all possible angles to determine the motive behind the attack.
Notably, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has reportedly claimed responsibility for the firing through a social media post. However, police have not yet verified the authenticity of the claim and are continuing their investigation before drawing any conclusions.
The back-to-back incidents targeting fitness centres in Haryana and Delhi have raised concerns among residents and law enforcement agencies, prompting intensified efforts to identify those responsible and uncover the motives behind the attacks.
